billvon 3,077 #26 January 27, 2005 >What a debut...and the Dublin Airport has no problems handling a DC-9. I think money would be the issue. Per a recent ICAO report, it costs airlines around $2200 an hour to operate a DC-9-30. Say Perris's cost is double (due to lack of economies of scale.) A ferry flight from Perris to Dublin, GA would be around 9 hours round trip, so you're talking about a $40,000 ferry fee. If you have 400 people at the boogie that's $100 registration fee per. Add another $80 per jump.

Ferry Fee's not as bad as you thinkStart DZ hoping on the west coast to east coast cordinating for big even boogies on the way. I think this is how a DZO from Ariz does it during his home DZ slow season. R.I.P.

Douva 0 #31 January 27, 2005 This question is for those of you in the know: What are our chances for a Jet day at Nationals? That gives Perris a little over seven months to clear out the cobwebs, kick the tires, and do whatever else the FAA demands.I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.
CSpenceFLY 1 #32 January 27, 2005 I would hope that they had some kind of plan at least thought of if not worked out on how they were going to move that thing around the country. There are not that many "Big events"to take it to that would be able to pay the ferry. sundevil777 102 #34 January 28, 2005 If just 100 people would be willing to pay just $100 to travel with the plane, then you've got 10,000, and all of the 100 could jump in. If people start paying for the ride to a boogie, might it change the reg's they would fly under?People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

The costs come from a more vigilant maintenance cycle. If the jet can be considered a private aircraft, the pph would drop dramatically.I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
