Johnny Carson Passes Away

Recommended Posts

I'd say there's not much to mourn. He lived a rich, full life, and brought laughter to millions of people for 30 years. It's sad that he's gone, but I think he did damn good with the time he had.

Blues, JC. You will be missed.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

They also siad he used to smoke during the commercials so he wouldn't ruin the interviews with his guests.

I just saw this while looking at USPA's website:

Quote

Host of the "Tonight Show" from 1962-1992, Johnny Carson, passed away January 23 at age 79. Skydivers remember Carson as one of the first and most famous harness-hold students, 13 years before USPA adopted the Accelerated Freefall program in lieu of five then-required static-line jumps. Instructor Bob Sinclair, who single-handedly jumped with Carson in 1968 over California, described him as easy to handle, although he needed an altitude reminder at 6,500 feet. Carson deployed on cue at 3,000 feet and promoted the sport as he talked about his experience on several episodes of his show.
