skymama 37 #4 January 29, 2005 Clean the entire house Cook the family dinner Write her a nice card telling her how much she means to you Before you complain that it's too much, moms do that all the time! Trust me, she'll love it. If any of my kids cleaned the house without being asked to, I would be floored. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

flyangel2 2 #6 January 29, 2005 First off let me state that for me, birthdays are not a major celebration in my house. I don't understand why people make a big deal about them. That being said, as a mother I can relate to the suggestions that Andrea gave you. You would have to call 911 if I were to come home to a clean house and a meal that had been prepared that is waiting for me, that I didn't cook. To add to Andrea's list, something my boys still do for me that I love is make a coupon book. They have all kinds of things in the book. TheAnvil 0 #7 January 29, 2005 My mom says that men 'can't clean anything'. Skymama is probably right Adam. I'd do as she advises. If you can't cook well, then do something in a crock pot. I can PM you a recipe for an idiot proof creme de menthe ice cream pie if you need it. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! karenmeal 0 #8 January 29, 2005 I've got a good gift idea.. its cheap.. when I gave it to my mom she cried a lot... so thats a success. Go out and buy like 4 or 5 different scents of candles. They say that scent is the strongest for associating memories.. so pick ones that remind you of something between you and your mom. Then go write a note about all of those memories of you two that the candles represent. Some ones that I did: I got a seashore one that reminded me of our girls only trip to the oregon coast when I was ten.. I got a chai tea one that reminded me of all the tea parties we've had. I got a lemongrass/basil one that reminded me of the fun we've had cooking food together.. especially thai. i got a cutgrass one that reminded me of gardening with her during the summer. Got any ideas now? I used this one for mother's day.. but if you're in the doghouse I think this should get ya out. -karen "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
hooked 0 #9 January 29, 2005 I can only speak for myself....my son has forgotten my Birthday. It hurts that they don't remember, so make sure she knows you feel bad and wish her a Happy Birthday anyway. Maybe just do something special for her, you don't have to spend any money. A little warning....don't forget next year, mark it really big on the calendar!, or set your computer to remind you. shropshire 0 #10 January 29, 2005 That's a really sweet idea (I must try to remember it, may come in useful - I'm always forgetting stuff). Depending who you're working on, you could ramp up the impact by Running and bath, lighting the candles and putting on some music that also reflects the memories. ....Wow, I'm almost looking forawrd to forgetting our next wedding aniversary (.)Y(.) IanHarrop 42 #11 January 29, 2005 Do what ever you can.. the cleaning thing is good but just accept that you're screwed for the rest of your life. Women don't forget this kind of thing... they may forgive BUT they NEVER forget. Dougiefresh 0 #12 January 29, 2005 QuoteYou're done, done like dinner Put a fork in him. I'd say flowers (a lot of em), cleaning (a lot of it), breakfast in bed for a week, cook dinner for a week, and make it seem like you did it all on purpose just to test if she really knows how much you love her.
