bbarnhouse 0 #2 January 30, 2005 Well we certainly pale by comparison to others...but there were several weather holds today BEFORE the winds kicked up. It has been unusal weather to be sure.
AggieDave 6 #3 January 30, 2005 Yup, us at Aggieland are pretty much hosed for the weekend. The whuffo forcast for tomorrow says "partly sunny with mid-day and afternoon thunderstorms." The *real* forcast means we might have gotten one load up tomorrow morning first thing before things got shitty again. Sooooo... We went ahead and put the plane down for some maintance, especially since it may take the A&P doing some cowling repairs 5-6 days to finish. Not because its a hard job, not because he doesn't have the skill, its that he's old and moves on his own time most of the time. Although he is the best in the area when it comes to sheetmetal work. The guy is freak'n awsome. The repairs he does will probably last another 50 years.EDIT: It would be nice to just buy a new bottom cowling from Cessna, but have yall seen the prices of those? To give you an example, from the factory a new cowling set (top and bottom) is $26k!!!! We would go "junk yarding" but planes in a junkyard, that have been pounded in, guess what hits first after the nosegear and the prop? The bottom cowl, the one we are getting cleaned up.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

If both coasts are getting wet, I go central (Clewiston or Lake Wales), but if one coast or the other is good, I go where the weather is good _________________________________________
AggieDave 6 #10 January 30, 2005 What I like about Texas is even though the weather may suck sometimes, I don't have to deal with Florida or the blue hair wonders that don't know how to use a blinker but can plow through a farmers market with skill and grace. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Frenchy68 0 #11 January 30, 2005 Low 70's in SoCal and gorgeous blue skies (although the wind is a little worrisome... Oh well, I'll have to work on my Canopy "Moonwalk" I guess...) Started raining (snowing sorta too), and we're supposed to have the same tomorrow. Oh well... I got 2 in today so I'm good.~skysprite
