Can you tell me why my leg hurts???

Since I've started running up again, my upper thigh area is soooooooore!!!! AHHHHHHH, it's so annoying, last year I injured the SAME muscle on the opposite leg and I couldn't run for a whole semester. I did do a warm up and 2-3 quick stretches, but now my leg hurts. Can any runners out there tell me how to stretch this area? [:/]
I wanna go run again

try grabing your toes and pulling your foot behind your back twards your but, this should help strech those muscles, what are they called your quads i think.. not sure... a good stretching routine before and after workingout will save you from alot of soreness......

Just a question here, but how long has it been since you started ruuning till you got your injury? Its pretty common for people to go overboard too quickly. I've personally been on a 2 month break in just to get my legs up to the point where i can really beat them down.

Yeah, I need to do a good warmup with a nice stretching, and after running, cool down and really stretch.

It's not an old injury though; last yr.it was my left leg, upper thigh, now it's my right leg. I am NOT gonna get injured again>:(

Hmmmm. Well here is what i would do and i have been in that situation. But I typically spend about a half hour streching before i run then a nice little jog for a few minutes before i actually hammer down. then i follow by streching some more. Another thing to consider is shoes. Shoes and shoes. You have to have the right pair that fit good and are made for running. I have 3 pairs of shoes in the line up right now, so good shoes are key. Also a running specific shoe store would be able to set you straight right there. And one last thing are you running on pavement?

:S well there's one of my downfalls, I haven;t replaced my runnning shoes in like a year I think. Ya think I gots monies to spend on shoes, when I'm a student AND I skydive?
I should get some new shoes. Our track is pavement, but since I love the outdoors and I'm a dork about it, I try and run on the grass next to the track.
ahhhhhhhhh, running through grass listening to Van Morrison sing songs about me.....ahhhhhhh

WHAT. I thought van morrison was only singing to me. thats it i am having a talk with that guy ;) running on grass thats a good start. pavement hurts:P. got the stress fracture to prove it. but theres some good advice from the people here. best thing i can say is that it takes a while to break your body in. Its also mind over matter. IF you dont mind it dosent matter.:)

I am going to do more strength training on my lower body,more squats,lunges, etc. I think that's an important aspect.
I will look into getting fitted for some new running shoes, but not until I get fitted for my jumpsuit.B|
