Newbie 0 #1 February 3, 2005 We have a pretty standard set of hot sauces in the UK, i noticed the US tends to have more of a selection, but i have to be honest, none of the "stock" selection of sauces like Louisiana hot sauce, or Tapatioare not that hot in comparison. I usually just go for the standard, West Indian Encona made with scotch bonnet peppers. As far as mass produced items go, it does the job. I once had some of Dave's Insanity Sauce, self described as the hottest sauce in the universe. I actually couldn't eat it, and i love pepper/hot sauce. It seems that the West Indian brands are more fiery than the standard American fare, with the US hot sauces tasting a little "watery", almost like a slighly hotter version of Tabsaco or something? On a side but related note, i like this collection, but i can't quite see the point - i would be too tempted to try them all out. So post up your favourite hot sauce, and what it tastes like. Also, if anyone has tried this, i would love to know what "the worlds hottest hot sauce" tastes like, especially for almost $90 a bottle. TheAnvil 0 #2 February 3, 2005 Frank's Red Hot is my favorite. Love that stuff. I've had Dave's Insanity Sauce and Dave's Endorphin Rush. Don't care for them because I like flavor and heat and not just heat. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! bobsled92 0 #3 February 3, 2005 TABASCO original #1 Dave' insanity sause is good but, a little bit and after 4 mins the burn stops. I can set my watch to it. Tobasco adds flavor and I can still taste the food._______________________________ If I could be a Super Hero, I chose to be: "GRANT-A-CLAUS". and work 365 days a Year. http://www.hangout.no/speednews/
Zennie 0 #4 February 3, 2005 Lately I've been on a Chipotle Tabasco kick. As far as Dave's Insanity goes, the trick is to hold back a bit... hard as that is for hot sauce fans. A drop of that stuff really truly does go a long way. I added maybe a teaspoon of it to a huge batch of chili and it still seriously amped up the heat factor. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
GTAVercetti 0 #5 February 3, 2005 Crystal or Franks. But I do not consider either to be truly "hot" sauces. They are just tasty On th eother hand, I am not a fan of Tabasco...don't like the flavor. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing. Zennie 0 #6 February 3, 2005 Almost forgot my favorite day-to-day standby... Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce... the garlicy Vietnamese hot sauce you'll see in many Asian restauants. I use that stuff like ketchup. Yummers.... - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
wildblue 7 #7 February 3, 2005 Yeah, Dave's is good for setting fire to a whole dish. If you want flavor - I've been stuck on the "Hot as a mutha" from Heaven on Seven. Actually, I'm almost out. I dump it in/on damn near everything.it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
freeflir29 0 #8 February 3, 2005 Quote Frank's Red Hot is my favorite. Definately my favorite for flavor. It's warm and has lots of taste instead of just peeling a few layers of skin.
Vallerina 2 #9 February 3, 2005 QuoteActually, I'm almost out. Ohhhh...poor S! Do you need some shipped over to you? I LOVE Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce on eggs and hash browns. I use it like ketchup! This thread is funny, too. On Monday, I ordered some new hot sauce based on a few of the replies in this thread: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=892555#892555! I am running out of my habanero sauce, so I did a search of hot sauces here! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

I didn't bother to search for this topic, so i just put the post up there. What sort of freakish coincedence is it that i decided to post up on "whats your favourite hot sauce?" almost exactly a year to the day the last post of this exact same subject area was put up?! Must be something about this day and having hot sauce on the mind? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

DontPanic 0 #13 February 3, 2005 Melinda's Extra Hot (White Label) is probably my favorite. It is hotter than Tabasco, but nothing like Dave's. It has alot of flavor, but isn't so hot that the flavor is masked. I also like Tabasco's Habanero flavor (yellow label), since I have trouble finding Melinda's sometimes. In terms of the super-hot sauces, I like both Dave's and Scorned Woman, but I tend to use so little that you can't get much of a sense of the flavor of the hot sauce.
