Girlfalldown 0 #36 February 7, 2005 :12:1 It was an awesome weekend in Byron! Got a whole lotta ff jumps in and one object jump. What a kick ass weekend. Even did a killer head down no hands kiss pass that went splendidly! I think I'm catching on to this whole skydiving thing. -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.) GeordieSkydiver 0 #37 February 7, 2005 0:1:0 Very cold jump at Chatteris, from altitude. My sit exit (which normally suck) went so well, I didn't know what to do. The advice I've recieved on this forum has paid off.Just the one for me, I only wanted to clear the sand out of my rig from Gran Canaria's xmas boogie.Lee _______________________________ In a world full of people, only some want to fly, is that not crazy? http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk
jumperconway 0 #38 February 7, 2005 :3:0 3 very challenging Jack Berke organised 6 ways. Seemed like all bonus considering the weather we were supposed to have had. Nice to get back up after weather the previous weekend.
happythoughts 0 #39 February 7, 2005 Hmm... Saturday - party with dj. Proceeds from drink sales going to tsunami relief fund. Sunday - hit/chug contest that was really funny. One guy dropped his beer and then knocked over a chair while sitting down and fell on the ground.
HeatherB 0 #40 February 8, 2005 QuoteAt 33 jumps you jumped a new canopy type - not even gonna mention the elliptical thing - at a new to you dz? pull and flare, lisa I was wondering about this as well. Going to a new DZ and jumping a different canopy is probably pretty common for people who don't own their own gear yet. They basically just snatch up whatever the instructors (or gear store owners, etc) say is closest to what they've been jumping. (hopefully not a smaller or more high-performance canopy though)
windcatcher 0 #41 February 8, 2005 QuoteGoing to a new DZ and jumping a different canopy is probably pretty common for people who don't own their own gear yet why thank you, finally, some one who understands. All of my rig should be put together next month, yeehaw! also, I don't understand a few mentioning the elliptical question, but not offering any explanation to me in PM's; what good does it do to point out the elliptical thing, but not teach me? anyways Heather, I appreciate the fact that you realized I probably didn't have my own gear and that's why I was jumping a different canopy Mother to the cutest little thing in the world... NWFlyer 2 #42 February 8, 2005 0:0:0 ... weather sucked (I think) but I wasn't here anyway ... off snowboarding in Whistler. Can't complain but I feel the need to get back in the air (especially after unintentionally practicing my PLFs with a snowboard attached to my feet...) HeatherB 0 #43 February 8, 2005 Well, I had to do the same thing when I first started. I had 15 jumps, I moved and didn't have my own gear yet... I upsized though, and certainly didn't go elliptical. (I still haven't!) I had learned on a 170, and then my first few jumps after I started back again, in FL, were on a 190. (both Sabres) What did you jump at the new DZ then? And what were your prior jumps on?
bob.dino 1 #44 February 8, 2005 In general, ellipticals are higher-performance canopies. They respond faster to control inputs and offer less margin for error. You've not offered any explanation as to what elliptical you were jumping, and people are rightly concerned that you may be unknowingly biting off more than you can chew. edited for spelling. plowdirt 0 #45 February 8, 2005 DID 8 HoP-n-PoPs at LakeWales on my new canopy sorry for the scare on that first one. Sheeewooo, what a ride. It was all buisness out there this weekend, WCCP preview. And some nice stacks from the CREW DOGS. IT WAS A FUN WEEKEND INDEED. Thanks Chris, Jay, Si, everybody for your patients.
windcatcher 0 #46 February 8, 2005 well,I understand "concern" if that's what you call it; or were they just trying to sound incredulous, like, "you jumped an elliptical?" Not trying to start a debate or anything, mind you. please help me to understand people,I am a safe jumper and love this sport too much too injure myself; so next time, maybe you can point me to an expert or if you are familiar, help me so I can understand things better, like elliptical canopies THANK YOU Mother to the cutest little thing in the world... bob.dino 1 #47 February 8, 2005 No they weren't trying to sound incredulous. They were concerned for your safety. What make, model, and size of canopy did you jump over the weekend? If you answer that, you'll put people's minds at rest. Glad to hear you had a fun weekend .
