bluewaterstream 0 #1 February 8, 2005 I plan on taking a road trip out to the east coast next month, are there any drop zones that are right off of I-70? I'm coming from Colorado and going to New York. Ideally, I'm looking for dz's that are less than 30 minutes from I-70. What are the top 3 dz's that I should check out and do any of them have a helicopter? Thanks guys... John

wildblue 7 #7 February 8, 2005 SWC Is about 15 - 20 mins off 70 at the IN/OH boarder. SGC Is probably 20-30 mins off 70 about 40 miles into OH. I live about 2 minutes from 70, so wave as you go by or stop by for a beer. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
Adrock 0 #8 February 8, 2005 One tip: make sure you call ahead and see if they're jumping especially if you are going to stop by on a weekday. I did almost this same trip 6 months ago, only from KS to PA, and when I stopped by Quantum Leap on a Friday, their Otter was in for maintenance and they said they *might* do some Cessna jumps later in the day. I left! I was lucky though, because the Richmond Boogie was going on right when I was driving out here, so I just stopped there for 3 days! And KSUPC in Wamego is really close to 70; it's my old home dropzone. Small Cessna club, but really fun people!
PhreeZone 20 #9 February 8, 2005 Very shortly this year their will possible be a DZ at Newark,Oh . About 8 miles off I-70, and about 10 minutes East of Columbus. bluewaterstream 0 #10 February 8, 2005 QuoteLike WildBlue I only live 2 minutes off I-70 (I live closer to it then he does ) so call and we can grab a beer. I'll probably be making my 100th jump out there, so maybe the three of us can make that jump together... Plus, that will be my first time jumping in Ohio... Plus, I recently cutaway my old boring girlfirend, got a new cool one, and the new cool girlfriend is probably going to make her first tandem skydive on my 100th jump... BEER, BEER, BEER... I'm guessing that I'll probably be rolling into Ohio on March 20th(Sun), 21st(Mon), or the 22nd(Tues). Does SGC jump during the week?
PhreeZone 20 #14 February 8, 2005 Not that early in the spring. Its just starting to have the snow melt here and its highs in the 30's. The Otter is in FL for the winter. It should be back just about that time. If the weather is nice and the Otter is not back we have a 182 at Newark we are jumping on weekends.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
