Slappie 9 #1 February 8, 2005 Damn this is awesome!! http://maps.google.com/ put in an address (123 anystreet anycity) and BAM it puts you right on it. Plus it'll give you directions etc. "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." JohnRich 4 #2 February 9, 2005 Blech! I get this: "Your browser is not supported by Google Maps just yet. We currently support the following browsers: * IE 5.5+ (download: Windows) * Firefox 0.8+ (download: Windows Mac Linux) * Netscape 7.1+ (download: Windows Mac Linux) * Mozilla 1.4+ (download: Windows Mac Linux)" I use Netscape, at 7.0. livendive 8 #5 February 9, 2005 That is cool! I can get my house, my office, and the dz all in one map, with only 3 "zoom ins" to spare. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

It seems like it will only be a matter of time before people start bitching about Google being the next MS trying to take over everything. My guess when it will start? When they release their own browser. It seems like trial and error with MS. Their mail( google's), even in beta, rocks. And they appear to be less intrusive....so far. I am sure I will hate them sooner or later, but right now, they rule me. As for this map thing. I do like the look of the maps more. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing. Slappie 9 #9 February 9, 2005 I like you can zoom in, then drag the map across the country. "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them."
ChasingBlueSky 0 #10 February 9, 2005 Quote As for this map thing. I do like the look of the maps more. I like the look and interface better....but there are issues with it that need to be worked out with the "directions" section. It found a nice route from my house to work that was only 20 miles, but it was only on side streets! That route would take me over 3 hours! It offered no option to force the directions to interstates, etc. Hopefully they will fix that as they work thru the beta._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... That is one thing that I wish ALL map sites did: provide MULTIPLE routes, all at the same time, to the same place. For instance, in DC, if I type in one place on one side of the beltway and another place on the other side, I ALWAYS get direction via the damn beltway. Well, what happens when I know there is an accident on it? hmmm....Maybe we should tell Google this. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing. Shotgun 1 #13 February 9, 2005 That's pretty cool, though it seems to be a bit buggy right now (guess that's why it says 'beta' ;)... I use Yahoo Maps, but I always double-check the directions on Mapquest... My job involves appointments that are always at a different address, so I use those sites all the time (Don't know what I would do without them!)... And one thing that always bothered me was that they didn't show which side of the road your destination would be on, but Yahoo Maps recently added that feature and I was very happy about that. This is interesting since Google owns Keyhole now, which is a whole nother level. As for mapping, if you really care, buy a copy of Mappoint. Not a big M$ fan, but it kicks the crap out of any online mapping product and requires no connection obviously. It is absolutely invaluable if you travel much, IMO-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
