jehudemus 0 #1 May 9, 2009 what is the actual square footage on a Glide Path Firelite reserve with the model number FL130-R?
RiggerLee 63 #2 May 10, 2009 Keeping in mind that every one measures things a little diffrently. I don't have the paper in front of me but the number 172 sticks in my head. The way GPI/FCI measures things I'd say it's a little on the small side unlike a PD. It's a slightly older design and has no stabalizers. I wouldn't load it quite as high as they do with some canopies. But I like big reserves any ways. Haveing said all that I've got half a dozen rides on mine. It has all ways treated me well and it's still packed into my rig to this day. I've known red for years and if you ever need anything he will be there to help you 100%. councilman24 37 #3 May 10, 2009 http://www.flightconceptsint.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=6&Itemid=9 Still made by Flight Concepts. "Actual" square footage depends on definition. Flight Concepts follows the PIA measuring guideline. PD uses a different technique. So a PD area and a PIA area for the same parachute are not the same. PD's will be smaller.I'm old for my age. riggerrob 643 #4 May 11, 2009 Yes! I remember Firelites as 176 square feet. Since they are an older design, they will work great as long as you don't load them significantly beyond one pound per square foot.
councilman24 37 #5 May 11, 2009 BTW FL130-R is probably the serial number. Which would indicate a very early one. Maby be pretty tired if it's been packed regularly all that time.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
