He was out by a year (2004), but the novel was written in 1997..... never read that book, or even hurt of it. but we launched the probe to land on titan IN 1997. He really went out on a limb with that prediction And the chinese have been planning their astronaut mission for years. ummm since he wrote it only 7 years before it happened, thats like me predicting that the US will have astronauts land on Mars in 10 years. I have a pretty good chance of being correct. MB 3528, RB 1182
PalletMan 0 #3 February 15, 2005 Reminds me of another book, which, interestingly, also has a 'Titan' theme: Futility, The Wreck of the Titan. QuoteIn 1898 Morgan Robertson wrote Futility, The Wreck of the Titan, a novel of greed, pride and stupidity. It described the maiden voyage of a transatlantic luxury liner named the Titan. Although it was touted as being unsinkable, it strikes an iceburg and sinks with much loss of life. In 1912 the Titanic, a transatlantic luxury liner widely touted as unsinkable strikes an iceburg and sinks with great loss of life on her maiden voyage. Other similiarities: Titan Titanic Month of wreck April April Passengers and crew 3,000 2,207 Lifeboats 24 20 Tonnage 75,000 66,000 Length 800 ft. 882.5 ft. Propellers 3 3 Speed at impact 25 knots 23 knots Robertson later wrote a book, Beyond the Spectrum, that described a future war fought with aircraft that carried "sun bombs". Incredibly powerful, one bomb could destroy a city, erupting in a flash of light that blinds all who look at it. The war begins in December, started by the Japanese with a sneak attack on Hawaii. . . . (Note: The name Titan is a derivitive of the Chaldean word Shitan, which comes from the Hebrew word Satan. It was said that not even God could sink the Titanic. It seems he couldn't pass up this challenge!) Source --ArtSky-div'ing (ski'div'ing) n. A modern sport that involves parties, bragging, sexual excesses, the imbibing of large quantities of beer, and, on rare occasions, parachuting from aircraft.
