Buried 0 #1 February 16, 2005 I do not know how many times over the last few days I've been driving behind someone who only has 1 or no tail lights/break lights or even non-working blinkers and un-intentionally cut me off! why does IL or the owners not check these things. When I lived in PA you have to get your car inspected once a year for a small fee. Are other cities like this or are we just lucky? [end rant] Where is my fizzy-lifting drink? GoatBoy 0 #2 February 16, 2005 In Michigan there are no inspections at all, they used to do emissions testing, but half the cars couldn't pass it so they cut it out. You should see some of the crap on the roads around here, I used to drive one of them Flying Hellfish #31 "I'm not allowed to talk about it till after the trial" www.SkydiveTecumseh.com
masterrig 1 #3 February 16, 2005 Here in Texas, we have mandatory vehicle inspections. We still, see a lot of vehicles with one or no tail/brakelights. People just don't check things like that. Bad part is, they get hit in the rear-end ...it's the other guys fault! Try to prove the tail/brakelights weren't working after the wreck! Buried 0 #4 February 16, 2005 QuoteTry to prove the tail/brakelights weren't working after the wreck! oh that sounds like it would be much fun! The best I could do one time is call the cab company and report the cab. He didn't have any break lights except for the center one... but when i reported it I said he had none since he started to piss me off. I saw him pull off the road 3 min after that phone call. I'm surprised how many people dont know that if you blinker starts blinking faster one of your bulbs is out. More cars should be like mine and let you know that a front or rear bulb is out... but then who knows if the owner would even still replace them! Where is my fizzy-lifting drink? billvon 3,169 #5 February 16, 2005 I just got a set of LED taillight bulbs (amber and red) for my car from LEDTronics. No more burned out taillights! And they're safer since they come on faster.
masterrig 1 #6 February 16, 2005 They probably wouldn't, till they got a ticket! Then, they'd really be pissed! Chuck

AggieDave 6 #8 February 16, 2005 QuoteI just got a set of LED taillight bulbs I'm fix'n to buy some similar products for my motorcycle, since I worry much much more about being rearended on my bike then in my truck. Hell, unless its a very large very heavy vehicle, getting rear ended in my truck is fairly humorous for me. With my ranch hand bumper and the hitch always on, it turns into a "you scratched my bumper...sucks that your car is now totalled due to my hitch going through your radiator and breaking your engine block...why in the hell were you tail gating me so damned close anyways?" Well, since I'm sure someone will misread that, I'm joking about getting rearended in my truck, since even minor bumps can give you serious whiplash or worse.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." I had that exact thing happen to a roomate of mine a year or so ago. He has a 1972 Chevy truck, and was hit by a saturn while slowing down to turn. The hitch went clear into the front of the engine, and the car was completely trashed. After the cops had filled out the report he had to pull the truck forward to get off of the side of the road and the hitch pulled the whole front bumper/radiator out of the car! He ended up with nothing more than a few scratches on the truck's bumper. No one was hurt luckily, and the dumbass that hit him had no insurance and was driving his girlfriend's car. RedassSkychic 0 #11 February 16, 2005 even if your state does have mandatory inspection, its still a year between each inspection (or 18 months if you're like me ) that's plenty of time for taillights to go out.
