loumeinhart 0 #1 February 17, 2005 my fingers look GREAT after about a week then somehow I start again -- It's a DISGUSTING habit and they sting when I turn on the shower. A buddyjust quit cold turkey and he's pretty pleased got me motivated. I wonder why certain people do this? My dad used to offer me $20 if I quit for 1 month, if he caught me deal was off! freeflygoddess 0 #4 February 17, 2005 My mom chewed her cuticals and she got nasty scabs. Finally we made her wear gloves for two months and she stopped. My three month old is chewing his fists, but I am sure that has to do with teething...

Evelyn 0 #11 February 18, 2005 Yes, I have been a nailbiter forever. When I run out of nails I start chewing on cuticles and when I run out of cuticles I go for the skin. I hate it. My hands look so ugly. I want to change but have no willpower. If someone finds a good way to kick the nailbiting habit please let me know! MWGemini 0 #12 February 18, 2005 23 years old and I've been doing it since I was a kid. Doesn't really bother me, although I would like to be able to stop for good (I've stopped countless times, but never stick with it for some reason). It's one of those unconscious habits. The good thing though, is that there's not enough nail for any dirt/grease to get under. This is especially nice when you spend a lot of time working in those environments. I remember her buying special nail polish tasted nasty so she wouldn't chew her fingers. I chew mine too. The "NASTY" nail polish has Qinine in it to make it taste bitter, I love the taste of quinine (bitter lenon & Indian tonic) So I till chew themYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! Nightingale 0 #15 February 18, 2005 if you put super glue on the raw skin above your chewed nails, they won't sting in the shower. Orajel or anbesol will make them stop hurting. In the nail polish section of the grocery store, you will find nail-biter polish. It tastes TERRIBLE. that might help, or at least make you more aware of when you're biting. Chrissay 0 #16 February 18, 2005 Two of my really good friends do that. I just don't get it, they nibble on their cuticles until they bleed. Ick!
white_falcon 0 #17 February 18, 2005 It was my New Years resolution to stop (after 30 yrs) and so far (knock on wood) I have yet to chew. I do still catch myself occasionally but it is getting easier. Wish me luck Scott
