skydiverton 0 #1 February 21, 2005 Garage called me2 days ago. Exhaust system middle and rear section have to be replaced They want to have 1200EURO for it, because it is a japanese car and this model has not been sold much. Mitsubishi Sigma 1995 3.0 V6 I decided not to repair it and give it a try myself A small study from me learned I could solve this problem with a standard mounting sleeve cost 15euro (and 3 hours work) Only the connection flanges were broke. I have cut these flanges of and installed the sleeve. One thing is sure. I'm going to find a different garage. I will never go to this shop again ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
AggieDave 6 #2 February 21, 2005 1200Euro for just pieces of the exhaust system? How are you mechanically? Would you feel confident in doing it yourself? How is the exhaust system setup, does it bolt together or do you need to do some welding? Have you searched the internet for prices of those parts?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
skydiverton 0 #3 February 22, 2005 I fixed it myself (I'm a mechanical engineer) The 2 flanges connecting the 2 parts were corroded-away. Just cut off the remaining of the flanges and installed a sleeve with 2 clamps In tyhe netherlands they do not sell these items from a spare-part manufacturer (bosal, walker). Found an adress in germany (30minutes drive) that delivers these spare part for 420euro. (sounds more reasonable) Note this is not the car sold as sigma in the US! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
AggieDave 6 #4 February 22, 2005 Makes you feel good to fix it good and fix it cheap and to fuck a garage out of hundreds of dollars doesn't it.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
