Bolas 5 #1 February 22, 2005 The tally right now is 1. Got a call this morning from a friend that can't access a site or a link from her computer, but can from her husbands which is on the the same network. Here's the site: http://linkshare.com The client login button does not appear and if she types in the link it does not work either. Is there something peculiar about their code? She has cleared her cookies, cache, history, and I even had her clear her SSL state. Windows XP SP2 running all the hotfixes. Any ideas?Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

MichaelC 0 #3 February 22, 2005 Are both machines running SP2? SP2 is known to cause connection problems. SELECT * FROM USERS WHERE CLUE > 0 (0 row(s)affected) Failure is not an option...it is integrated with every Microsoft product.
elizfowler 0 #4 February 22, 2005 Is there a remedy for that if the SP2 is the issue in this case?

ChrisL 2 #8 February 22, 2005 Proxy? I run my machines through a proxy. Some sites are intentionally inaccessible from some workstations for security reasons while still being on the same subnet. Specific IP addresses are blocked. Also, some types of http commands are permitted and some are not. Some workstations are not permitted to pass a POST operation to the server.__ My mighty steed
flyingferret 0 #9 February 22, 2005 Good call it might be SSL session control on the server side....are you running NAT?-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
Bolas 5 #10 February 22, 2005 It's a home setup running through a cable modem. There is wireless access, I'm guessing there is a router and I know they are using desktop firewall software (Norton on the problem computer and MCafee on the other.)Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh. ChrisL 2 #11 February 22, 2005 Try disabling the antivirus software temporarily and see if that fixes it. I've seen Norton cause issues in the past. If there is content on that page that Norton doesnt like, maybe active-x or jsp pages that it views as potentially harmful, it can block them.__ My mighty steed
hookitt 1 #12 February 22, 2005 What is this site? The SpyBlocker on my Windows machine shows it at a possible malicious website. Edit: possible, not knownMy grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
lummy 4 #13 February 22, 2005 Norton Firewall has settings to block secure connections. Typically it's in one of 2 places, the Privacy manager or in the advanced rules for the firewall. I'd disable the Whole security suite to rule out Norton. If it works, I'd then disable the privacy manager. If all else fails, in the firewall config, advanced tab, general button, there's a rule to "Block acccess to secure sites"I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. bob.dino 1 #16 February 23, 2005 Why would she want to go there? It's a dodgy marketing affiliate site... Norton is most likely blocking it to save her from herself.
