Chrissay 0 #4 February 21, 2005 oh yeah, been there done that. I was caught going 80 in a 55 on the way back from the DZ on New Years Day a couple of years ago. It was even a State cop and he also threatened to give me a Misdemeanor for not changing my address on my license. What a PRICK he was, I can usually get out of getting a ticket when I get pulled over I went to court and got them to drop the points and fees down two levels. I'd hire an attorney and see if he can plead it down. I'd also slow down.
leroydb 0 #6 February 21, 2005 ah... ticks me off though... i was in the middle of NOWHERE, or so i thought.... probally will spend 300 on a lawer. i mean my record is pretty durn clean over all! Vallerina 2 #7 February 21, 2005 Pay the ticket. In Indiana you have to be going over 30 mph of the posted speed limit before they can do much more than that. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

masterrig 1 #12 February 21, 2005 Depending on the JP and your driving record, here in Texas, you can go to driving school and show proof of attendance to your insurance co. for a rate reduction. Keeps the ticket off your record. Chuck

Jskydiver22 0 #14 February 21, 2005 Yeah look for the insurance to go up for sure. I just had a friend total his truck by hitting a light pole yesterday...i was about 50 yards from it, he's only had his license for about a month. Think his insurance will go up? --I don't even know enough to know that I dont know--
Superman32 0 #15 February 21, 2005 A couple of months ago I had to extricate a 17 year old who got his license and his brand new Audi that very morning. masterrig 1 #17 February 21, 2005 What can't you do on-line? It sure makes the school more readily available to folks. Works out pretty good. Order a pizza on-line, sit down and go to on line driving school! Thanks, for the info. Chuck

There is always a chance that the cop may not show up and you'll get away with it You should just call a laywer and for a nominal fee they pick up the phone and call the person in charge of prosecuting the ticket who says they will lower it and does the paper work. Your laywer sends you the new ticket and you go pay it. Insurance goes up less because the ticket is lower and your out money but your record doesn't reflect as bad of a ticket. No idea what the laws are in your state regarding that.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. jumpinfarmer 0 #19 February 22, 2005 When I was 17 I got stopped for 75 on an un posted road. Your not supposed to do over 55. The truck I was in was out of inspection by 7 months and had bald tires. I had been sent by my grandpa to get a part for our hay baler and was told to go as fast as I could, I just did what I was told. The deputy let me go but said I'd have to see the J.P. within the next week. A few days go by and I went and looked up the J.P. his wife came to the door and told me where to find him. Luck would have it that he was out baling hay. After explaining my situation to him he tore up the tickets, but not until I had helped him unload a couple loads of hay. masterrig 1 #20 February 22, 2005 Pretty cool! Pretty fair and understanding of that JP, too. I was driving to my friends ranch to help work cattle. I had been driving a little over 2hrs. and was still, about 1/2 hour from the ranch. A state trooper stopped me because I was speeding (and I was!). She asked me where I was going and I told her and named the rancher. She asked me to slow it down and be careful with coworks. I found-out from my rancher friend that the trooper is the wife of a neighboring rancher. Chuck
skydiverton 0 #21 February 22, 2005 Quoteif you got one for dong 80 in a 55... what would you do? cough cough Give it another try. In a 55 you can easily do 100 You can also see a speeding ticket as some kind of certificate, only if it at least indicated 120mph or 200km/h Did your ticket include a free photo?? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
Twoply 0 #22 February 23, 2005 Twice now I've taken the time to go to the court date. Ask the procecuter, respectfully, if he could see his way to letting you pay the full fine but drop this down to a broken headlight ticket. If he says he won't, then tell him your going to have to come back with your lawyer. They DO NOT want to fiddle with a stupid case like this and tie up the system, and after a few times to try to intimidate you into pleading guilty, he'll cop to the lesser charge just to get you out of there. The cop who cited me actually got in my face and quietly threatened me that if I ever told anybody they knocked his ticket down, he'd "Find me." Play on them, if it's pissing them off, your getting somewhere. Expect them toi throw an extra hundred or so on the ticket though. Cheap as compared to the cost of insurance. EDYDO 0 #25 February 23, 2005 Quoteif you got one for dong 80 in a 55... what would you do? cough cough Leroy, Obviously, every state is different. I got a similar one in your state, NC, last year. You will get lots of lawyer solicitations in the mail, just wait. You will likely find one that can get the charge reduced to a non-moving violation for about $200 fee plus $25 ticket, plus $125 court costs. My total was $350. Yes, insurance costs are the problem and the reason for paying the lawyer. I didn't even have to show up, he handled everything, including payment to Hoke County. I thought I was gonna get off on that one. He was Paul Rafferty's brother in law and Paul was my DZ park neighbor at the time. He just kept writing the ticket. Want info on tickets in Florida, South Carolina, Nevada and more, I am your man. Ed
