DrunkMonkey 0 #1 February 25, 2005 ...Just saw it for the first time since High School. Excellent movie. I prefer watching it without the english subtitles, as they don't exactly translate 100% accurately, or so I ascertained. Rent it, along with Once Upon A Time in Mexico. Desperado is okay as well, but the 1st and 3rd films are excellent. As I said, rent it.
AggieDave 6 #2 February 25, 2005 See, I thought the 1st and 2nd films were great but the 3rd wasn't. Unfortunately my gutter spanish isn't good enough to keep up with the movie w/o the subtitles.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." I've got to go with Dave on this one. I thought Once Upon A Time in Mexico was trash, but I liked El Mariachi and Desperado. El Mariachi was the unofficial battle cry of independent filmmakers in the '90s. Every wannabe Robert Rodriguez in the country was selling his Honda Civic and trying to be the next ultra-low budget wonder child. Most found themselves stuck with incomplete films and bus passes.I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names. Desperado is a different sort of film with more overt humor, and is also fine. I've watched both in the last two weeks (off the same double-sided DVD). Once Upon A Time in Mexico was outright bad and not worth the $3.50 Block Buster charges to rent it.

Uh oh, guess I'm alone on this one...I bought the movie 'cuz I liked it. It was sick and dark and twisted, just like I like my men. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
