bch7773 0 #1 February 27, 2005 I'll probably be going to Costa Rica during June... has anybody done any scuba diving down there? What site, and on what ocean? Was it expensive? Did you rent gear or bring your own? any other cool things to do down there? MB 3528, RB 1182
Trent 0 #2 February 27, 2005 I've been to the West Coast of Costa Rica and done some scuba there. What I remember is that it isn't so much great diving as far as corals and reefs, but there are tons of great spots to go for turtles, giant mantas, and even whales. I wouldn't plan on doing more than a day or day and a half of diving. Most of the resort areas have a dive shop that is reasonably priced, as is everything over there. Check out the surfing and horseback riding. Also don't miss the rainforest hikes and Arenal volcano. Awesome. Enjoy your trip! TrentOh, hello again! ChangoLanzao 0 #5 February 28, 2005 Yep ... On the west coast. The white tip sharks were cool too! My travelog from that trip is HERE. Here's an excerpt: "We spent four days on the Pacific coast of Guanacaste at Playa Del Coco. Arriving in the morning, we were eager to manifest for an afternoon dive trip, but because it was the off season, there were no dive boats doing afternoon trips. So we headed to town and grabbed a bite to eat. On the way back to our hotel, we decided to drop in at a couple of the dive shops and were invited to join on a night dive later that day with the divers of Rich Coast Diving Co. We wasted no time and signed up. It was beautiful. The water was a comfortable 86 degrees F. all the way down to 90 ft. The bioluminescence was very bright, the sky was pitch black and loaded with stars. It was strange doing our first dive at night, but it was great! We decended right down on top of a white tip shark that was sleeping on the bottom right under the boat. Cool." **************************************

jessefs 0 #8 March 1, 2005 I got back a week ago, didn't scuba but snorkled on of the Nicoya Peninsula on the Pacific coast. There is so much to see and do there, I'm going back multiple times. If all you want to do is scuba, go to Belize. Costa Rica is like the US in the sense that there are many different environments in one country (beaches, rainforest, mountains, desert, etc...) I thought Costa Rica was great for diversity if you're into travelling around a bit. PM me if you want info or suggestions. <* Spread the Love! *>
