pop 0 #26 March 2, 2005 QuoteBut I see what youre saying, and I've seen how skydiving seems to be just what a lot of people need to put life in to perspective. However, skydiving is not my REAL WORLD, its my escape from it. What you said7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

josheezammit 0 #28 March 2, 2005 if my brother who is in college wants to take a class for fun its always anthropology, one day he came home and just had to share something with me he went over in class. that day they were talking about the american spirit, and how it still lives on today, I know that we are not all american on this forum, so I shall rename it the "adventurous spirit" and each and everyone of you has it, we all have a desire to explore the unknown, to live out our dreams, to be able to be strong and courageous, and I think that for most of us skydiving let's us do that whether it puts everything into a new light or just makes you feel better, you're out there, just like our ancestor's road the plains of a younger america with the rough riders and Teddy Roosevelt, or our parents road a rocket to the moon with a guy named neil, you are out there pushing the limits, and loving every damn second of it Ahh, what a wonderful world. Beerlight 0 #29 March 2, 2005 I never post anymore, but I have to make a small exception for this thread. I agree with your "minimalistic" lifestyle. I too live that way..., although with a job. But turning down $200K per year? Not saying you should, but maybe work two or three years, put some cash away and/or give some to charity? From all the talk, social security will be virtually non-existant in the coming years.... I work, I play, but I save too. Buck
LawnDart21 0 #30 March 2, 2005 I have a guilty pleasure.............my 51" High Def TV Watching skydiving videos on it in the winter rocks. I'd call myself a minimalist that has adiction to big screen tv and harleys, other than that, pass the ramen! -- My other ride is a RESERVE.
happythoughts 0 #31 March 2, 2005 QuoteQuoteThe best benefit to being a minimalist is the only "cleaning" I have is dishes and laundry Open the back and front door, and take a leaf blower (which is also My 6hp shopvac) and blow from one door out the other sure beats dusting I was married for a dozen years so I didn't have to do dusting because (1) it didn't bother me (2) I have a penis. There are rules for that stuff. Then, I lived in apartments for 10 years. When the apartment got dirty, I moved. Note - always stack the pizza boxes neatly enough to leave a trail through the living room. Also, a stack near the recliner serves as a great place to set your drinks. I have been in both situations and i enjoy having the money and freedom to do more in life then just skydive. I love the sport but i have 4 kids and a wife so i need to be able to make sure they can enjjoy other things in life not just me and my skydiving.
