Rules to being Pied?

Recommended Posts

Okay...here in Texas it goes "If you have not been pied for the same jump number, then you cannot pie another" Also "If you have not been poured (SCR Ceremony) then you are not allowed to pour on another".

Is this a general rule that is followed throughout the entire skydiving community? Or is this just a Texas thing??

That's pretty much the rule in San Marcos. One thing about the pies though...around here there's liable to be ANY nasty thing in there, such as spoiled milk products, leftover cole slaw or beans, etc. It took a hosing off and 2 showers to remove the stench.

We don't use anything gross in the pies at our DZ. Chocolate creme is a favorite. It should be sweet enough your friends will want to lick it off of you.:$ Also, let the person get their gear off. The post dive is a good time to get someone. The Texas rules are interesting.

OMG . . . I didn't even mean to do that. I was just complaining about Dublin hijacks yesterday. :D

But I said that b/c I saw your post in the Dublin thread about you and Justi hopefully doing your 100th's there. Jake is not the only one to look out for. ;)

See, I've never bought into that rule. I don't think being pied is like getting your SCR ceremony. At my first drop zone (Westex Skysports, near Midland, TX) pieing was a family event. Everybody on the drop zone, from the young kids to the whuffo spouses got into the act. That was fun. If you have to have been pied for the same number of jumps, who pies people with 10,000-20,000 jumps? I think SCR beer pouring should be limited to those who have been poured on, but I think pieing should be for everyone.

On a similar note, an appropriate pie consists of an aluminum pie pan and whipped cream, nothing else! Do not put cat food and mustard and seafood salad in somebody's pie--That's just not right.
I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

Never ever pie someone if they have any of their gear on. That means jumpsuits too.

I don't pie anyone, cause I hate getting a pie. It has only happened once to me and that's enough.

Oh, and I'm with Jeff on this one. Make it a pie, not garbage.

First your best friend should distract you.....then ya gotta make sure ya get them right in the ears, some in the hair, oh and make sure you try not to get the jumpsuit....or so I found out.

I was trying to be mad...but I was just glad to be done with AFF. Looking forward to Pieing someone else!! :)

When I finished student training they tried to stamp me on the forehead with an A license stamp. From what I understand I was the first person fast enough to dodge it. Edited to add that once the girls joined in I might have let myself get stamped a couple times on the arm ;):P:)

Greenie in training.
