Vallerina 2 #1 March 7, 2005 I used to think that it would be fun to be old enough in the eighties to go to all those crazy concerts. It looked like such big fun, and my bangs could reach the ceiling! Off the shoulder shirts and acid-washed jeans really do look good on me, so I thought I missed my days. I was wrong. I went to Hairbanger's Ball last night, and while I got into some of the G&R classics and other random music, I can say with confidence that I got my fill of the eighties all in one evening! Between the white mullets, purple pants and the lead singer ripping his shirt open in the finale, I feel like I got a true 80s experience (just slightly condensed.) One day, "She's my cherry pie," will not be stuck in my head anymore. A band covering the 90s would not be nearly as entertaining! It would be depressive. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Vallerina 2 #3 March 7, 2005 Joe's Bar The opening bad (Ten With Strangers) was pretty good. I also ran into an ex-coworker. She walked up behind me in the bathroom line! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
Slappie 9 #4 March 7, 2005 I was a headbanger in highschool and college but it wasn't the "radio friendly" music. There was a completely underground music that was headbangin. We called the shit you saw on MTV & heard on the radio "poser music" I still have a pair of tickets to Cardi's here in Houston for Poison. This is now defunct metal club. But back in the late 80s it was a happening club. Was before they had a hit, they showed up wearing more makeup then my gf and wearing womens underwear. It was really sad. We drank a few huricanes and moved to a better see a better show. I'll admit I don't miss the 80's and all the "hairbands" I do miss some of the music, and some of the great bands that when under the radar. Metal was more then what you saw on MTV or heard on the radio. Go get some old Pantera - Cowboys from Hell ... it will rock your world today. Vulgar Display of Power (92) will make your speakers melt. rip Dime Pick up Metallica's Ride the Lightining or Kill'um All, even Master of Puppets. That stuff is timeless. Rock at the core. Never did they get played on the radio or MTV. Until later in their carreer. They lived on the road and made their fans via the underground. Word of mouth.. "hey man check this shit out" "Errrrrrrrr smoke this while your at it" "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." But, hey! I was 7 or 8, and Axl was just hot!!!!There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Vallerina 2 #7 March 7, 2005 Oh thank you! Actually, I think I just wanted to be like my babysitter who was, at that time, one of those hot rock women. She was cool. She wore lots of bracelets!
