Give me the GOOD news!

Recommended Posts

Hi Sangiro
I can totally see why you would want some uplifting material. May I make a suggestion? Here in the UK at about this time of year the papers all print articles that are a round-up of all the big music festivals lying ahead (Reading, Glastonbury etc.). Location, band line-up, prices, etc. Why not do something similar for all this summer's upcoming boogies?
You could even make it a permanent feature of your home page (call it 'Boogie Blitz' or something more catchy). You could tell us the planes that would be available, coaching, demos (both gear and skydiving), locations etc. etc. For people like me who are new to skydiving it would be great, because then we could find all the boogie info in one place (with links to the official boogie pages of course). Then after the boogie, perhaps various DZ.commers can submit their reports (maybe even reviews like for the dropzones?).
Just an idea.

Sangrio,
Cant really say that this is news but its of a lighter note. On this last Saturday, March 1st, I passed my A license test w/ flying colors. I went to jump but it started to rain right as i was driving up so i said im gonna go in anyway. Glenn, the ST&A asked me if i was gonna take the test and i said alright. Since there is studying that has to be done I went and picked up a SIM book and started studying. After 3 hours of studying, and a half of pack of ciggeretts, it was time to take the test. After getting a beer we made our way to the class room downstairs. After everyone was done we graded the test and i found out i recieved a 100 percent so i went and got another beer. After that the night was uneventful except for getting in a fight w/ my friend because we were told we couldnt smoke in the back seat. Had to take our minds off of smoking so we stared hittin' each other. No injuries though. So hopefully this brings everyone up a little. I got my A license!!!!! wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

blue skies, cold beer

Heya - does anyone have some good news, a story, an article...anything that I can post to the home page that will make it look less depressing? Too many stories about accidents! :(

Dropzones in Pa & NJ are jumping through all the Winters months. Lots of jumpers braving the cold and the snow covered landing areas for the love of our sport. At -14 with full altitude we're still having lots of fun. Students are out there too. I've been practicing Speed Skydiving this Winter, getting ready for World CUp. If you can take the cold when you're skiing, you can take it while jumping as well.
We are ecpecting a really good turn out for "SAFETY DAY" next weekend as well.

How does it feel to know that you are one the coolest dudes on the planet for making this site happen. I have had more laughs, more smiles, more info , more friends, more everything nice because of this site. Being connected to friends all over the world has been so cool.
If you ever sat and thought about all the lives that have been affected by this place..... you know the rest.
I can't thank you enough for what you've done. I'll put you up there with Steve Fossett and Richard Branson.
Thanks to you and this site...
I just got a letter from a great friend in AUS who did a nice job describing a boogie there. I'll ask if parts can be shared with all of us.
Sangiro, you rule !

I think it would be cool to have profile/interview stories of people in the sport like Parachutist does only a little more...hip. Think Rolling Stone instead of Newsweek. ;)

Being from UPSTATE NY near Canada, My life has been outdoors all Winter long. I just think it's great that other people are willing to jump this Winter as well. (although I had the plane to myself a week ago Sat)

Hey Sangiro, how about a "and now the REST of the story", story.

Like for instance, I have been wondering how the dz's in Cali that were affected by fire last year, are doing now? And how are the Florida dz's that lived thru 2, 3, or 4 hurricanes doing?

You know the good old fashioned "nothing keeps us down" kinda story.

Why don't you interview "French Patrick" from the WFFC. He has been in the States for about 8 months now, and is trying to hit as many dz's as possible while here. I bet he has a neat perspective on USA dz's, and can give alot of info about Paris, and Vichy as well. There are probably lots of travelling jumpers who could give additional input, as well.

We are less than 10 days from the Dublin St patrick's boogie and so far all is well. We have the field laid off and are ready for tents soon. Sounds like good new to me. :)
