I guess I should state that I never understood the fascination with watching any televised sport. so apparently I'm missing something.

JTval,
It's like watching any other sport. You are fans of a sport and you root for your guys.

I was just in Vegas and at Mesquite for the Valentines boogie. Sorry I missed you.

I never understood that either. Growing up in West Texas where football is such a big thing (I guess it's big all over the US actually), I was always baffled by the attraction to watching a bunch of guys play football...

Oh well, I'm sure there are things that I enjoy doing that other people might not understand. ;)

And I guess I'm doing nothing at all to help you understand why televised sports are interesting to others. :P

Ive even gone to a few races.

the thunder is pretty damn cool but its pretty lame to sit on metal benchs for a few hours to only occasionally see the cars pass your side of the track I guess it would be hafl of the time )

i've only been to one race (pocono pa), but it was very cool, even though i saw very little of the cars. if you want to see the race, tv is your best bet. ifyou want to experience the race, you can't beat the cheap seats, right down front! you can feel the cars go past, let alone see and hear them...

Really good racing is the scattered dirt tracks. That's just a fun time.

I also enjoy the shit out of NHRA Drag racing. I used to drive a street bracket car. Ran outa money and the car kinda got wrecked. Got a divorce (sorta long term relationship) and money went to the debt left behind. Sold the house so that took the garage, so no shop....

[:/] dang bummed myself out LOL

Your just not meant to be a NASCAR fan then! I just can't understand that..

I think it's because he grew up on Long Island. We perceived NASCAR to be fairly redneck and didn't relate. Most Long Islanders couldn't stand country music either.

Now though I find myself more interested in NASCAR and country music. I'd rather see NASCAR live though.

the best racing IMO is the various touring car series and WCR which only seem get aired once the season is over

I'd have to go with anything on 2 wheels - MotoGP, WSB, BSB especially - there are more passes in a lap than a whole season of F1.

I used to like F1 but now it just bores me, and NASCAR is as bad, but with less interesting tracks :|

Nascar is cool at certain tracks...bristol..martinsville(and of course the road courses)...super speedways YAWN...Of course I will watch a whole season of F1 to see a handfull of good passes...;):)

I completely agree.

Nascar has alot of technology built into their cars, which I like, but they also spend so much damned time measuring everything to make sure the cars are as identical as possible. Seeing a car go fast and turn left over and over never appealed to me. I've been to oval track races and found the best part was the coors lite girls.

WRC is hands down the coolest racing in my book, followed by sportbike racing and touring.

My boss is really into nascar and I think it bums him out when he gets all amped up over it and I've got this look on my face like "so?"

It's like anything. It is what you like.

My cousin, an avid golfer, and I got into a discussion on hobbies. An interest in an activity doesn't have to make any sense, you just have to enjoy it.

The wife of a jump-buddy is a total NASCAR fan and watches the races on Sunday while he jumps. For her birthday, he gave her the Richard Petty 120mph race course. She wanted that more than any other gift.

The one that amazes me is the Fishing Channel on cable. :o It isn't like fishing is too exerting if you are participating, but watching it on tv?

The excitement builds...

"Oooh, wait... he's going to cast again." :D
