marcandalysse 0 #1 March 8, 2005 Hi everyone, Cora's post yesterday about her training to walk the 3 day 60 mile fund raiser reminded me of how I prepared for my walk around the Island of Shikoku in Japan. In 1989 I walked the path of a 1200 year old Buddhist Pilgrimage in Japan. I walked through rice fields, forests, mountains, along coastline. It took me seven weeks! The interesting part is that the path was a circle....I ended up where I started (with a few more blisters and alot more ability to speak Japanese!) The people were very friendly to me, offering me meals, places to stay, gifts and even cash to help out. So for those interested in foreign adventures, here is a section of the journal I wrote while on the Shikoku Pilgrimage Path, the 'Henro Michi'.
