alanab 0 #27 March 8, 2005 QuoteNo worries! My boy-toy calls me "Salmon head" b/c I literally have it every day. I never get tired of it. I love it--just make it different ways. Sometimes grilled, sometimes baked, sometimes barely seared (if you buy sashimi-grade---tip, if you do, the "previously frozen" is actually what all sushi places use). Sushi is a fantastic option, too. Get the pieces (without the rice--b/c white rice lacks the compenent in all carbs that makes you feel full--that's why people joke after eating Asian food that you're hungry soon after) and mix the wasabi in some soy sauce (I'm also HUGE on the benefits of soy). We get it once a week. It's SOOO good! yup... huge sushi fans here too! just the fish dipped in soy/wasabi.... and i like some rolls lot too. like rainbow, philly, spicy tuna, etc! GARYC24 3 #30 March 8, 2005 It's been awhile since I had one but, the back of a fishing license had suggested daily allowance for mercury and how much consumption, etc.

lawrocket 3 #32 March 8, 2005 A client of mine was, a couple of years ago, experiencing severe health problems. Turned out, he loved sushi and sashimi, especially tuna. So he was eating loads of tuna all the time. Since tuna is "healthy" he ate more when he got sick. YEah, doctors eventually figured out it was mercury poisoning. He's still got some lingering troubles from it. My wife is hotter than your wife.

GTAVercetti 0 #35 March 8, 2005 More fish information (more detailed info about what we said about salmon): "The average wild salmon has about 10x less pesticides than the average farm-raised (due to pesticide river run-off and contaminated feed affecting the farm-raised). U.S. salmon are less polluted than most European or Scottish salmon. The farther north any salmon is caught, the colder, and more omega-3 fatty acids it has to have in order to avoid freezing to death. Salmon have a 3-5 year life cycle depending on the species. I would suggest canned pink salmon (99% of canned salmon is from Alaska and therefor wild) as an inexpensive source (pink and chum have short life cycles, eat a lot of red algae for omega 3's, and tend to be less polluted; chum is hard to find). Brave people can pick up the tall 15oz can (at the 99 cent store, or at Trader Jo's) with the salmon's tail, including the skin (extra omega-3) and edible bones (great calcium) for low cost incredible nutrition. Sardines are another excellent source of omega-3 (try the 2 layer pack from Norway), and even shorter-lived than salmon"Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
