Faicon9493 141 #1 April 8, 2009 I am currently jumping a Jedei 136 and a Vector II container. My pilot chute is the bungee cord type and it's time for a new one. I want to get a collapsible PC but I have some questions. 1. Best size? 2. ZP or F-111? 3. Can I install without taking it to a rigger? I welcome your input. Thanks. Gary73 10 #3 April 8, 2009 1. If your current PC is working okay, stick with the same size. Adjust up or down a little if you change fabric types. 2. ZP gives more lift per square inch, but F-111 is less likely to slip out of the pouch. 3. Usually, but I've seen a few that were sewn to the D-bag (hate those!) or required tools to install. Either way, have it checked by a rigger or someone familiar with such things before you pack it up. BTW, bungee PCs seem to work fine, but aren't too popular anymore. If you get a kill-line PC, be sure to double-check the PC collapse and kill-line window until it becomes second nature! AggieDave 6 #5 April 8, 2009 QuoteBTW, bungee PCs seem to work fine, but aren't too popular anymore. Hop-n-pop air speeds are an annoyance. That and if you load much past about 1.3, you'll start to re-inflate with a bungee collapsible, then why even have one in the first place?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." monkycndo 0 #6 April 8, 2009 Look here for sizing info. Quite a few container manufacturers use Cazers as OEM PCs. Unless the bridle is sown to the D-bag, it should be pretty easy to change out the PC.50 donations so far. Give it a try. erdnarob 1 #7 April 9, 2009 Size...............27" diameter Material..........ZP otherwise with a F111 you need a 36". The use of ZP material will ensure that the porosity will not change unlike a F111. A ZP 27" packs smaller than a 36" F111 Installation......If you are not used to pilot chute installation, do it with somebody having experience then the next time you will know what to do.Learn from others mistakes, you will never live long enough to make them all. skydiverek 63 #8 April 9, 2009 Does a non-collapsible PC generates harder openings? The snatch force is probably higher, since it reaches the line stretch full inflated and then suddenly stops. It also yanks on the bag, taking it of the canopy, still pulling on the canopy and disturbing (?) the pack job and maybe movng the slider down. Is there any truth to that? phoenixlpr 0 #9 April 9, 2009 Quote Does a non-collapsible PC generates harder openings? You need something to blame. Quote The snatch force is probably higher, since it reaches the line stretch full inflated and then suddenly stops. Negative. Force is proportional of size/area. Quote sturbing (?) the pack job and maybe movng the slider down. Please explain how the PC can pull the slider down!
Baksteen 84 #10 April 9, 2009 I think he means "move the slider off the slider stops" as he was talking about "disturbing the packjob" before that."That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
