selbbub78 0 #1 March 9, 2005 Hey guys, Okay so long story short: I've been doing a special assignment for the last 2 1/2 months, and my supervisor wants to thank me for my work, by doing something 'unusual'. Usually they do a lunch or something, but my supervisor says he's never met anyone as unusual as me, and wants a fitting outing. He's even gone to say that he'd give everyone in the group (there are 8 of us) up to 1/2 day off. He said it could be done in the future if we wanted to wait for nicer weather. I tried to suggest skydiving, but he said since it was company time, that he could be fired if something went wrong. I can understand that. Just remember: I live in New Jersey, so it's cold here right now. Any ideas? No, a nudist colony doesn't work well, either I really can't think of anything! skymama 37 #2 March 9, 2005 Do you have an indoor climbing center there? Those places are a lot of fun and it would actually promote the whole "team-building" concept because you all would have to work together. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
selbbub78 0 #3 March 9, 2005 it's a possibilty. I don't know how athletic everyone is. I know the idea of going to the liberty science center (supposed to be some hands on science center), Dave and Busters (even though the closest one is about 1 hour from us), and some other off the wall activies came up. I was just told, no going out to some boring place for lunch. He says that it's not unique enough to do that. wmw999 2,588 #4 March 9, 2005 We did laser tag and it was fun. Not too strenuous... Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. Rdy2skydive 0 #8 March 9, 2005 I work for a small company and they took us to Pegasus at the Meadowlands Race Track for our Christmas party. I'd never bet on the horses before but I had a blast and won a few hundred dollars. How about something like that? But then again, I'm always up for a trip to Dave and Busters. Have fun. jimmytavino 16 #10 March 9, 2005 good job on making such a positive impression.... In Jersey??? but how far from N Y C ???? If you're within a reasonable drive... plan a Day in Manhattan...... If it's cold go the Museum of Natural History... if it's nice take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty... ..If you have the time!!!!! do Both. It may be a little Booooring but if most of the group has never done either,,, It could be fun... Museums offer all sorts of opportunities to experience something "unusual".... ... whatever you do.... enjoy it... jimmy
selbbub78 0 #11 March 9, 2005 Ya tell me about it (about it being nice of my supervisor, especially since he's not my 'normal' supervisor), go figure. I'd love to push the jumping, but not on company time, oh well... maybe some day. I work real close to NYC. I'm pretty clueless to things to do in this state (i barely spend anytime here, trying to leave whenever possible), but someone was just talking about the natural history museum. on a side note: I would absolutly love to go to Dave and Busters (as the only one i've been to was in chicago and that was a blast), but I can't see the people I work with, enjoying it as much as me. I just can't imagine their reactions. It would be fun though.
