Smoking rule

Recommended Posts

At the same time as I think it's reasonable to establish such a law on an industrial hygiene premise (i.e. you can't knowingly expose your workers to a carcinogen), I'm also against the imposition on a bar owner's ability to have an otherwise perfectly legal cigar and bourbon night (e.g.).

There are some places like that but mostly it's non smoking. It kicks some serious ass.

Smoking inside a bar makes little sense to me. If it's one of the "private clubs" then it seems perfectly acceptable. There's a good one in the city that serves great Mojitos, or at least there was, It's been a while since i've been on that street.

The law was met with some resistance but it didn't affect the amount of people that go to the bars. It's a good rule. It isn't the smoker, it's simply the smoke.
My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

I'm a smoker and i also hate smelling like smoke. I don't mind standing outide, even in the cold, it's kind of refreshing.

In our country though they have glassed off sections of restuarant where they stick the smokers. That bothers me, especially when the non-smoking section has windows.

Surely they should put the non-smokers in there and the smokers in the better ventilated part? These are the things that keep me up at night.

Then don't go to bars.

I don't understand why people feel it is their right to go somewhere, KNOWING that the smokers will be there, and then get upset that the smoke is there. That is like jumping from a plane, without a rig, and being surprised that you bounced.:S

Why should smokers' style of living be altered by your wants and desires?

If you don't like going to a bar that is smoky - don't go to that bar - just as with DZ's - there is one way to change them - and that is to let your feet do the walking and talking.

I'm with you on that one buddy. Although I don't do it anymore, I still understand why people enjoy doing it, I'd still do it if it wasn't for the health risks. Some people choose coffee to relax or beef. Others choose to smoke and bars are the traditional place to do that.

I smoke, but I really like noit smelling like smoke.

Pop (and others with this kind of comment) take it from someone that has gone almost 2 years without a cig. If you smoke, you smell like smoke, period. It doesn't matter if you are smoking inside or out.

I can't believe I smoked so damn long. These last (almost) 2 years have been awsome!

I, for one, would vote for a National indoor ban.

okay, I guess that's what I get for wanting to hang out with people who happen to be smokers. Guess I'll just start a whole new group of friends, no smokers allowed. B|

I hate smelling like smoke for the rest of the evening after leaving a bar, but one of my friends who used to live in NYC pointed out an interesting Selma regarding this law--The smell of smoke masks the smell of the sweaty masses huddled together in a confined space. I'd never really thought of that, but it makes sense. According to him, you simply trade the smell of smoke for BO.

O.K. but since the smoking ban would not single out a specific person, the drinking ban would also include you.

Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I drink not much more than a week a year (in Rantoul), and I don't drink all that much there either (too much work to do).

So, go ahead! :P

Eventually, not yet though. I'm not gonna try to quit until I'm sick of it or we're pregnant. No kiddos on the way yet and I'm not quite sick of it (I'm getting close).

I know that if I try to quit before I'm sick of it I'll start back up again or I'll be really pissy all the time, OR I'll get even fatter.

Well then - if we are going general -

and people think they have the right to ban people from doing stuff - just ban jumping - I like to smoke - I like to jump - banning one and imposing your preferances on me is the same for one or the other.

No, it's not. I'm not banning smoking, I'm for banning it indoors in public (indoor) places. The act of smoking produces carcinogens. You have the right to smoke. Go ahead, just go outside. I'll be inside waiting for ya with a cold beer when you're done. :P

There is still an issue of invasion here.

Why must I go outside because of your wishes?

Just cuz you're a Rev . . .:ph34r::ph34r::D
