ifall 0 #1 March 10, 2005 Have any of you had to fill out a form for the insurance co. with one of the questions being "were you injured on anyone else's property?" (for obvious reasons) Well I have to, and I know what I have to do just wondered if it's standard. I've been injured a few times before requiring multiple Dr. visits but this is the first time I've gotten one of these letters. Insurance companies REALLY try to get out of paying if they can. ScubaSteve 0 #2 March 10, 2005 It think its standard for any injury related hospilazitions or work done. I got a call from an insurance lawyer when i got hurt and they wanted to sue someody. I said it was my fault 100% and they left it at that.

jumpergirl 0 #4 March 10, 2005 I had a yucky car wreck in August 2003 and went to numerous doctors. Every time I filled out new paperwork they had the same 2 questions: "Was this an auto accident?" and "Were you at fault for this accident?" I think everyone wants to have as much information as possible documented in as many places a possible. Too many people are sue happy these days and want to have a reason to sue someone else for their personal gain. It sucks. When it's a legit claim it's still "looked down upon" because of all of the frivilous lawsuits. Luckily my accident was not my fault. I still felt terrible about going after the guy but, hey, he totaled my car and I had to have surgery because of it. Sucks for him and his insurance. flyangel2 2 #5 March 10, 2005 Standard practice so they can write a report. If you have nothing to hide, then don't worry. They can't just write up the report to say: So and so, fell at so and so.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey
NWFlyer 2 #6 March 10, 2005 It may not be that they're looking to sue someone else, but are trying to make sure there's not another policy (such as the property owner's homeowners or business insurance) that might cover the accident. Having been through an accident involving multiple insurance companies (two auto and one health). Yes, they will make every attempt to figure out if someone else owes the money. Usually, it's pretty cut and dried and there's no need to sue anyone else. Fact is, the industry is pretty screwed up because of bad faith on both sides. False claims and insurance fraud on one side, attempts to not pay on the other side."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
ifall 0 #7 March 10, 2005 Yeah, that's what mine is. "Was this result of an accident?" , "were you on someone elses property?", "on the job?" etc. Anything for passing on responsibility. Just that out of all the injuries I've had this is the first time I've gotten one of these letters. I'm not sweatin' it, just curious. Thanks guys. white_falcon 0 #8 March 10, 2005 Insurance fraud, and Co-oridination of benefits are the reasons these questions are asked. I, for one, DO NOT believe that insurance companies try to "got out of" paying claims, they endeavor to ENSURE that the claim they ARE investingating is theirs TO PAY. I truly understand the attitude that people have towards insurance companies (leaglized robbery / gambling) but I assure you that Insurance does very much good. If I didn't believe that, not only would I NOT buy it, but I wouldn't sell it either. Scott edit: had to reword
ifall 0 #9 March 10, 2005 Good point. There ARE a bunch of fraudulent type people out there who try to claim everything through insurance. So insurance companies DO have to cover their asses I guess.
