skymama 37 #1 March 14, 2005 There are 2 bills of interest going through the Legislature this week. The first is to repeal the ban on direct shipping wine to FL. We could order wine over the internet if this passes! Just think of how much fun we could have harrassing GFD while we order wine from her! The second bill being voted on would allow you to recork a bottle of wine from a restaurant and take it home if you didn't drink it all. The theory is that people will drink and drive more responsibily if they don't feel they have to finish the bottle in order to get their money's worth. You'll have to be able to present your dinner receipt if you get stopped by the cops to get around the open container law. I think it's a good law. I hear there are people out there who don't finish off the whole bottle...I've never met 'em though. For the record, in some states (but don't ask me which ones) it's legal to carry an open bottle of wine in your vehicle as long as it's in the trunk of the car. That's how wine salespeople get away with it. I'm not sure what the rules are if you don't have a trunk.
