BASE813 0 #2 March 13, 2005 what about a log book you can draw down analysis from. % of jumps 4 way % of jumps freefly % of birdman total freefall time freefall time flat freefall time freefly blah blah blah etc etc etc I think that would be kinda cool
pds 0 #3 March 13, 2005 so that idea isnt really dead? that would be great. could provide drill downs of any kind. could relate photos and videos to the jumps they came from etc... this is what i do so this is my gift to you guys so speak up...namaste, motherfucker. BASE813 0 #4 March 13, 2005 How about a BASE specific one? I had a spreadsheet that I would analyise my openings, PC's used, delays, winds etc to see the data on what PC's and delays were giving me the worst off headings, and also just info on the type of jumps I was getting more done of and from what objects. If you fancy doing a BASE specific program I bet some of us anal data reading jumpers would be VERY pleased!
Faber 0 #5 March 13, 2005 yeah make one for BASE and you´ll see some happy faces arround. But yes your original idea making one for skydiving also sounds cool(i just dont skydive anymore) Stay safe Stefan Faber
pds 0 #6 March 13, 2005 first thing i'll need is a set of data points. the individual details you want to keep track of. the things you mention for instance: PC,Delay,Heading on opening etc... be as specific as you possibly can, users who don't need detail can option to hide it so it doesnt clutter. i can do this.namaste, motherfucker. pds 0 #8 March 13, 2005 also for the guys who take the long way down, could merge protrack data to the jump it came from. would need some data dumps from you guys though, no jumping for me here.....namaste, motherfucker.
BASE813 0 #9 March 13, 2005 PM'd my initial list............ Will speak soon about further thoughts on it. Thanks Michael
blackdog 0 #10 March 14, 2005 Quoteam thinking i should write some free software for idjits who jump outta planes. there is the ominous computerized logbook, home version and online? what else? i am stumped. help a bruddah help you.... wouldn't a protrack be the same idea? the software included that is?
pds 0 #11 March 14, 2005 i dont know what the protrack software does. i dont own one. like the majority of skydivers i would imagine. it will be something that everybody can use to analyze they data or just keep track and attach pictures. would be a nice alternative to the ubiquitous 'slide show' from yellowstone 12 years ago. lol.. what do you think would be a good idea for skydiver software? what do you want? thats what i want to know.namaste, motherfucker. IanHarrop 43 #12 March 14, 2005 Have you looked at what Paralog can do? http://www.paralog.net/"Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
pds 0 #13 March 14, 2005 QuoteHave you looked at what Paralog can do? http://www.paralog.net/ hadn't before. now have. looks be be a very nice piece of software. well supported and ported to all popular platforms. paralog's feature set is impressive, and includes a lot of the ideas i have like tieing video and stills to jumps. looks like the bases are covered for folks who want to spend 50-100. i only do windows and while i most likely will not be able to provide equivalent features, i hope i can provide some free software that is of use to jumpers of all flavors. who knows? just an idea that has been rattling around in my head.namaste, motherfucker. Andrelr 0 #15 March 14, 2005 A simple-to-use logbook would be great. A Pocket PC companion to this would be even better. There is one for the Palm OS, but nothing for Pocket PC.
pds 0 #16 March 14, 2005 so what i am seeing is that the ultracomprehensive jump computer integrated stuff for skydivers is covered by existing products. what i see interest in is: a detailed jump log for base a simple jump log for skydivers a pocketpc companion for both. as far as manifest goes, i thought of that when i was there but didnt ask. there is no way i could attempt to improve any existing manifest software while i am here, i just dont know enough about them.namaste, motherfucker. LouDiamond 1 #17 March 14, 2005 QuoteA Pocket PC companion to this would be even better. Paralog supports pocket PC http://www.paralog.net/ndl.htm A further refinement is being done to accomodate other small devices such as smart phones as these devices become more popular. There is also a BASE version log book being worked at this time that is close to be done."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
