DFWAJG 4 #1 March 25, 2009 Has anyone heard about the Vigil recall? According to my rigger, Vigil recalled their AAD because they made the cutter out of plastic, and the cutters are breaking. Getting my rig repacked for the season, my rigger found my cutter to be broken. It has been sent back to Vigil, with an $80 bill attached to replacement. I am not happy about paying for their inadequate product. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

PhreeZone 20 #3 March 26, 2009 If your rig had been repacked past last June I'd also be politely talking to your rigger about how he missed the service bulletin on them. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

The rigger may or may not have known. By the bulletin, those crappy plastic lined cutters don't have to be removed if the cutter is below the pilot chute, and undamaged. One scenario is that the cutter appeared fine in June and broken now. (Or there were differences in interpretation of bulletin #3 which could easily be misinterpreted when it came to what damage was acceptable vs. not acceptable.) DFWAJG 4 #5 March 26, 2009 I moved in June, so wasn't paying attention to skydiving stuff that month. I got a new rig in September and a new pack job. Now, with the re-pack, it was found to be broken.
