Doing a "Cautious" Happy Dance

Recommended Posts

So, I've been out of the jump scene for about 10 months, all because of this pesky massive change in careers and joining the Army thing, basic training, more intense training with my unit at the 101st at Ft. Campbell, KY, getting married, getting ready for even more intense training at Ft. Polk, LA, and making due with overall Army life.

It's amazing I'm still sane (some might debate that point).

The 101st Airborne Division has a parachute demonstration team. Naturally, I was attracted, and hope to have something to offer. Well, after I return from Louisiana in late April, I should be able to begin training with the team for purposes of participating in a July 4th event. It's not a permanent "team" position per se, but I'm certain I'll get to jump with some very talented people (at least one who also pokes around DZ.com from time-to-time too). Just some quasi-formal "memos" to be traded and all should begin moving forward.

What's cool is that I won't fall out of any other training with my assigned unit (critical since we're slowing gearing up to go to Iraq) and I get to stay with my squad in the process too.

Jumping, training, shooting machine guns, it's almost perfect...it's just not California. :P

Anyway, I'm slowly getting excited and hope I've got the talent they need. :)
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!
