I need a little hand here maybe someone can help me out. My msn no longer works. Everytime i click on it, it says windows preformed illegal yadda yadda, when i go to install msn, windows prefromed illegal....when i go to uninstall msn....yes...windows prefromed an illegal....

so what's the deal? my computer can no longer run msn anymore? i'm assuming i have to re-format my drive soon anyways but it's kind of pissing me off that i can no longer use msn and am stuck using windows messanger.

any idea what the problem may be?

umm the message that comes up when i try to open it is internet explorer preformed illegal and so on. and as for the other messages i'm not sure.
i was using msn 7.0 but it won't even uninstall it. and it won't install 6.2

sounds like you have two problems IE and MSN

easy solution....
install firefox
install trillian or other MSN compatible software.

You may have to manually clear up some of the garbage M$ put in. Probably something in the registry db. Happened to me before.

I just had the same issue. I uninstalled it, removed it from the registry and 6.2 still would not install again. Installing the Beta version worked like a charm and it's nice and stable from what I have seen.

sounds like your shell is screwed.

i would like to say there is a trick or program to fix your problem, but reality is that if you don't have anyone nearby with experience enough to track down and clean up the messes that get made in system32, the most expedient and painless way is to backup your data and fdisk it.

yup, guys, i said the eff word. i think that makes me old.

but first make sure you have run scandisk throrough and defragged to make sure you don't have logical file or physical disk corruption.

could be memory.
