I'm thinking of leaving the sport...........

Recommended Posts

I havn't jumped since WFFC and I don't miss it at all. I was planning on buying a rig but i'm having second thoughts on spending that much money on something that I'm not missing a whole hell of a lot.

If i do leave it probly won't be for good just a couple years till i get stable money wise. These feelings are probly b/c i havn't jumped in so long it makes me wonder if i want to keep going.

anyone else have these thoughts? what did you do?

I had a five month layoff with a broken tib/fib and i can honestly say that i thought about skydiving every single day and twice on Sundays.
Go do a jump bro and then re-asses your situation. It might even be worth holding off buying gear and just staying current until you can afford to jump more vs the cost of possibly re-doing an AFF course or something if you left it for too long. JMO B|

what did you do?

i got laid - solves problems of all kinds :)

seriously: if i was low on money, i'd just jump enough to keep my license valid.

get back in the air!!!

As soon as possible, it's probably just some sort of pshyichical Photographical virus or something. nothing that can't be cured with a jump or two, three... :P

There - I fixed it for ya.

Art,
If that is how you feel, you have to do what is right for you.

Personally, I can't imagine leaving the sport.

I'm with you. It's only skydiving and will always be there when Viking is ready.

To only jump enough to stay current is asking for trouble.

Hey Chief, I took almost a year up when i was wrappin things up with school and trying to find a job for when I got out of school. I did just enough to stay current and a lot of the times I was sooo busy for me to even miss it all that much. But now I have moved got some of my finances in order and have gotten back in the saddle. Give it some time, you just might need a little break but the itch will come back. Hang it there my friend.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

Doesn't matter if you are current or not, to skydive with you is asking for trouble.

Is that better:POh wait, that's still stating facts and makes sense:ph34r:

As someone who has known you from the beginning I remember when all you could talk about was jumping and being a virgin. If it no longer holds that same place in your heart then I say let it go. The sky will always be here for you as will the rest of us if and when you are ready to come back and play.

At the end of the day you are the only person who can make yourself happy. If not jumping works for you then go for it.

If you don't miss it, don't do it.

The sport will be there is you change your mind and want back.

But skydiving is to dangerous and way to expensive to do it if you only kinda want to do it.

If you are unsure, don't do it. Why risk your life with every jump if it is something you are not 100% committed to doing?

As someone else said, the sky will always be there. When you are ready to return to the sport (if at all) it will be waiting for you. There's no hurry and nothing wrong with taking time off then getting current again.

You can check out any time you want , but you can never leave.
It's stuck in your head and will eat at your brain. If you start to go insane... buy that rig.

But... if you really don't want it bad enough, cheers for doing what is right for you.

One more jump may change your mind. Make 2 jumps and call us in the morning.;)

Damn... Agreeing will Ron, Tonto, and Seth in the same thread here.

Thoughts of leaving pop up for all of us I think. This sport is so unforgiving of even the smallest error that there is a good possibility of getting hurt or killed on every jump. Don't jump unless its something that you absolutly want to do.

do what you feel you need to do. if you don't want to jump then don't you think anyone here would do any different if they felt the same. something tells you don't jump then don't jump.

To be completely honest with you, i only have three jumps and i am still scared to jump i don't know if i'll ever get over that. on days that everything is against me to jump i don't jump i have to have the right feeling to jump. don't let anyone talk you into going against what you feel.

Look what i made at work today mom!! Put it on the fridge

You've already had a kiss pass from me -- what else could top that in skydiving B|

Really, if you don't have a skydiving-shaped hole in your life right now, don't make one. All those other guys are right.
