I closed my container.

Congratulations! Looks just like a neatly closed container.

If you keep doing it, 20% of your jumps are effectively free. That's based on a $20 cost for jumps, and a $5 cost for pack jobs. That's a good rate of return.

Woo HOo! B|:D

Just got a call from the guy I'm buying mine from. He's in the process of packing it up for me... says I'll be paying a packer for the next 50 jumps [:/] Not only is it a tight fit, but its a new canopy too.

I had to laugh and think of you. Be sure to have fun and be safe in AZ! :)

Don't fret,
My 1st new canopy was a Triathalon 220 & I got so pissed that I invented new swear words >I< had never heard of before:ph34r:.

Good point on the trip. Making enough jumps to make it worth your while to travel is good. Of course, skydiving in general is good :)

Sorry I don't get this. In Germany you have to pack on your own prior to getting your licence. Hiring a packer as a student is higly uncommon here in Germany and you would propably get strange looks at the DZ. Can you explain to me why the U.S. people don't learn how to pack in their AFF or S/L-course? I think this is a not a very safe practice, because packing is the most important part of the jump IMHO.

You do learn to pack as part of your A license requirements (you don't need to jump your pack job though!:o) .

She's got a new canopy thats a pain in the ass to pack - she spent a good hour fighting with it last weekend...
at that point I'd pay a packer too!

i know.

plus, its my life. my pack job.

i have already resigned my self to using a packer this week at eloy. Packing is currently super fustrating for me, i want to have a fun trip.

I'm awesome....!:S

Don't worry. It gets easier. Pretty soon you will be getting off a load, packing in 10 minutes and getting on the next! :D
Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

congrats on your gear, hope it gives you many good safe flights:)
Not picking on you,but USPA as i wonder why you guys dont more often pack your own canopyes.. its the first thing we teach our students here.. and most likely they only will hire a packer in case they jump multiple rigs...hmm..:|

Anyway good on you that you pack your self, even as it sometimes sucks its kind of a part of the jump.. atleast its to me....:)

Stay safe

Congrats!

Advice: Never state 'This is the best pack job I've ever done! I can't wait to jump this one!'

A certain JACKASS did that and had his first cutaway. :)

You do need to learn to pack and jump your own pack job once before you get your A license however most newer jumpers don't start regularly packing for themselves until after they have their own gear. Most rental gear is also student gear so the dz needs some control over who packs it. (USPA regs, liability, etc.)

I'm not exactly proud of this, but I had over 100 jumps before I started packing for myself and I know I'm not alone in that.
