Lostinspace 0 #1 March 23, 2005 I CLOSED MY CONTAINER! the pack job below is all mine. total time: 2 days
wmw999 2,560 #2 March 23, 2005 Congratulations! Looks just like a neatly closed container. If you keep doing it, 20% of your jumps are effectively free. That's based on a $20 cost for jumps, and a $5 cost for pack jobs. That's a good rate of return. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. mailin 0 #3 March 23, 2005 Woo HOo! Just got a call from the guy I'm buying mine from. He's in the process of packing it up for me... says I'll be paying a packer for the next 50 jumps Not only is it a tight fit, but its a new canopy too. I had to laugh and think of you. Be sure to have fun and be safe in AZ! JenArianna Frances

wmw999 2,560 #7 March 23, 2005 Good point on the trip. Making enough jumps to make it worth your while to travel is good. In Germany you have to pack on your own prior to getting your licence. Hiring a packer as a student is higly uncommon here in Germany and you would propably get strange looks at the DZ. Can you explain to me why the U.S. people don't learn how to pack in their AFF or S/L-course? I think this is a not a very safe practice, because packing is the most important part of the jump IMHO. Most rental gear is also student gear so the dz needs some control over who packs it. (USPA regs, liability, etc.) I'm not exactly proud of this, but I had over 100 jumps before I started packing for myself and I know I'm not alone in that.
