marcandalysse 0 #29 March 24, 2005 28 jumps on a ten year old rig??? While I agree with every opinion on this thread....what the heck? Your ex friend probably became an addict....isn't thinking straight, and only remembers that she gave you something of great value once....that could be sold or traded for more drugs. That happened to me once, getting a call from someone I hadn't heard of for years. Turns out they needed bail money! Dont worry about it till you get the lawyer's letter. It probably won't ever arrive.... marc
Bodyflight.Net 0 #30 March 24, 2005 Quote28 jumps on a ten year old rig??? Nope, not my rig! No this is a +/-12 year old Racer with well over 600 jumps on it!!! edited: I never said it was mine!
skycat 0 #31 March 24, 2005 Well if's a racer tell the person that it fell into the service bulletin category and can only be used with a round main and reserve. Fly it like you stole it!
kai2k1 0 #32 March 24, 2005 I'd keep it. It clearly was a gift. Tell the person to have their lawyer contact you. There's no truer sense of flying than sky diving," Scott Cowan
jimmytavino 16 #33 March 25, 2005 Sure sounds like a Gift, legitimately based on gratitude, at the time it was given, and ( this is the important part ) at the time it was ACCEPTED..... Only was this "rig" just the container system? or was it a complete set of gear,, including the main and a reserve??? your post doesn't make that clear... Either way, if it's a racer with adjustable lift webs,,,,, pull the canopies and any AAD out of it, and send the container back..... Express your "disappointment" at this "sudden turn of events"... and indicate that you'd prefer NO future contact.........if you feel like you've been hustled,, then keep the reserve ripcord, the reserve pilot chute and freebag, the 3 ring release handle and cables,, and Hell.... why not keep the main pilot chute and D-Bag?... If the 'indian-giver' calls and asks about them.... offer to SELL those items for say 3 or 400 bucks... This sounds like a person who understands neither the value of a dollar,, ( for having given such an expensive extravagant, and really, unecessary gift in the first place) nor the value of a friend.....good luck .. Uh huh, though all he had to do for me was offer me a deal. Then I jumped it. Never had a Racer on before. Put my reserve and main in one, hooked it up to my Bird_Man suit, got up at the butt crack of dawn, put it on, and went and did my balloon jump. New rig, 1st still air jump, low altitude (for me) Bird-Man. Lots of shit coulda went wrong. Instead, I got hooked on the comfort of Racers. I'm thinking at the WFFC this year, I'll be demoing a bunch of Firebolts.... It's your life, live it!
