Recommended Posts

[:/]now how am I gonna afford to get through this last month of classes?? :S

It sucks not even having money to buy the little things. Today, I called the work study department at school, and they said I can't work anymore, since I've already worked my allotted hours this semester.:(

...makes me wanna cry:(

just had to gripe a little.....:|:S:S:S

Oh no.

Today's full of little bits of bad news.

I hope things work out.

No, not everything is bad news. I just finalized my plans to go to Eloy! That's good! :)
windcatcher: Sorry about the job. Why don't you try getting a job waitressing or cashier type of thing. Those places are always hiring and it's a little bit of cash to tide you through the next few months.

who is going to hire me for one month?

Just don't tell them it will be for a month. I've had to do that a few times. It is kinda shady but hey, you gotta make ends meet somehow.

I would have to find a place within walking distance of school,

I don't know where you go to school but college campuses are usually surrounded by places to work. You just have to get creative or bite the bullet and take a crappy job for a month. [:/]

Good luck. :)

I bet chad would let you build some houses :P if not you can come work for me as long as you don't mind paying your bills with a bunch of dollar bills ;):P:)

:D:D...yeah,seeing as how Chad can't work, I could take his place:D. Hmm, that would be interesting, windcatcher with a hammer:)

and soulshine: thanks, but yeah, I would have to tell someone up front I would only work for a month:|
Once I go home for summer, I am gonna work 2 jobs, it's just right now these last 5 weeks of school, I have so many bills to pay...B|

Hey, I feel you although for me its been a while.

When I was in college, I was only "allowed" to work 10 hours a week at my work study job. I made about enough for Sunday dinners which the dorm did not provide and Monday night happy hour at my favorite bar. :P Just basic pocket money, really.

I also worked full time over winter breaks (6 weeks) and summer breaks. That went towards tuition and books. I always envied the people who could actually afford to go on spring break, since I usually spent mine trying to line up a summer job!

If you don't think your school work will suffer as a result of working more hours, and you need the money, look into something off campus.

yeah, the school will only allow a minimum wage, 12 hr. a week work study job:S. If I had a car, I could work off campus................uhgggggggggh, so frustrating!!! >:(

Windcatcher,

That happened to me once. I went to the financial officer of my school and he tagged on another thousand for my work study at his discretion. I picked up the new grant paper, took it to Work Study, got my job right back, no big hassle. I hope that works out for you!~~April

Sorry to hear about your job. Have you looked into student grants? When my son was in college (he just graduated) he was able to find a lot of grants to supplement his income while in college. Good Luck!

Bank of America has a loan called the "education maximizer loan" which is meant for use for stuff like living expenses. you can borrow up to 30K per academic year, but you need a co-signer. That's how I'm paying my rent through law school.

With regards to working... just don't tell them you're leaving after a month.
