Slappie 9 #1 March 24, 2005 As most of you know I used to have a kitty named Fatcat. He was my companion for 10 years. He was diagnosed with feline diabetes and didn't last long afterwards. Was diagnosed way to late. I had him put to rest last year. My girlfriend and I have visited the SPCA a few times since then to look and discuss the possibilities of adopting a new kitty. I think we've walked those hallways viewing and even going thru the process to adopt. 4 or 5 times since Fatcats death. Well, we went 2 weeks ago just to look and see what kitties were available. The Houston SPCA was offering adopt one and get a second free. So we found 2 kitties, took them in the "get to know me room" they seemed to get along together for the 30 mins we were in there petting and playing with them. One was read to go home. Her name was Sasha (renamed Squeeker) so we took her home. Austin the little male needed to be processed before he could come home. The next Wed. I went and pickedup Austin. The most beautiful tomcat I've seen since Fatcat. Got home was really cool until he found Squeeker. Then he became psycho cat from hell!! Needless to say he was taken back to the SPCA the very next morning. Sorry Austin, if you would have just been cool and got along with Squeekz you'd have been on easy street. We've still got a free adoption, just waiting and leaning towards just keeping Squeeker. So were sitting around the house last week watching tv. The phone rings... it's Animal Planet. I look at bubbles with a strange look and hand her the phone. Come to find out we adopted an Animal Planet save. She was filmed and saved by the show Animal Cops here in Houston. The situation was a lady who had to many cats and was calling to turn them in before she gets fined by animal control. So Animal Cops was on the scene filming a segment about all the cats. There was so many cats they had to put them in secondary vehicles. Animal Planet offered up their rental car to transport cats. Squeeker was one of them that made it into the AP car. She somehow got out fo the carrier and got stuck under the front seat, just causing all kinds of ruckus. Not many of the cats made it because of sickness and disease. Squeeker was one of the handfull. Lucky kitty!! We didn't know any of this at the time of adoption. We just thought we were getting a new furrbaby. So Animal Cops is sending a crew to come film the followup to the orignial story this Saturday. I do not know when it will be aired. My understanding is AP doesn't normally take to much time in production so it shouldn't be to long. Sorry for rambling... edit to add a couple pics.. I made Americas Most Wanted once. not really.. but I was on tv local news once doing an aids march with my drunk buddies. It's really a funny story. We were on a 3 day drunk one saturday afternoon and stumbled out of the bar. Started walking down the street to the next place and this tv crew rolls up on us and asks us if were in the "aids march" my buddy says "sure" so they stop us and interview us. They could only air about 10 seconds of audio because of the bleeps but they aired video of us walking (stumbling) down the street.
