JoeBobinNC 0 #1 March 27, 2005 Has anyone here been to the Gorge Ampitheater in Geaoge Washington? I planing on checking out the DMB show in August. I need some first hand info from someone in the know on the campsite and seating. Thanks It doesn't matter if a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice. freakshow 0 #2 March 27, 2005 I've been several times... mostly for all general admission festivals though so don't know how much information I can give but ask away. B.L. (the brain)
JoeBobinNC 0 #3 March 27, 2005 Sweet, I was wondering if its worth the extra money to pay for seating or, just go for lawn seats? How far from the venue is the camp site? And, most importantly, are the security guards a bunch of cocks, or are they cool? It doesn't matter if a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice. NWFlyer 2 #4 March 27, 2005 Haven't been recently enough to comment on the setup, but you'll have a great time. It's one of the most spectacular places to see a show. Come over the mountains and make a few jumps with us in Snohomish before or after the show. Weather should be pretty much perfect that time of year. JoeBobinNC 0 #5 March 27, 2005 I'd love to come out and jump too, the group I'm going to have with me are stone wuffo's though It doesn't matter if a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.
NWFlyer 2 #6 March 27, 2005 Ditch 'em, bring 'em for tandems, or make them come watch and hang out. Get your priorities straight! (Seriously, bring your gear - the views in Snohomish are sublime in August - you'll regret it if you don't do at least a couple jumps!)."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. freakshow 0 #7 March 27, 2005 They've tightened up security in the last few years but from experience they've been pretty cool expect to have your bags patted down but I haven't ever been patted down there. The seats are on level with the stage all of them on the same level so unless you can get close it may be hard to see. The box seats or a little higher so you can see over everybody but very expensive and probably impossible to get. The grass hill is cool and probably where I'd sit but get there early cause it will fill up and there are some bad seets. Its also where the most partying will happen (it is a dmb concert so you can imagine) They also have some teared grass seating like cut outs from the side of the hill but don't know if thats general admission or not. The ampitheater campsite is probably about a half mile walk/stumble sometimes they run a shuttle. There are some other off site camping places that run shuttles but I've never stayed at any of them. JoeBobinNC 0 #9 March 27, 2005 So backpacks are cool then? Thats the only real concern I had, cause I'd like to bring some "comfort items" in with me It doesn't matter if a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.
freakshow 0 #10 March 27, 2005 I can't say for sure but they were ok last time I was there but I was there for a 3 day festival. But be creative cause those "comfort items" probably aren't allowed. Edited cause I found this on a website: Here is a detailed list of items that are banned by The Gorge: Lounge and elevated chairs, Laser pointers, Video equipment, Professional cameras (Only crappy cameras please!), Recording devices, Alcoholic beverages, cans, bottles, backpacks, hard or soft containers. my advice: where cargo pants B.L. JoeBobinNC 0 #11 March 27, 2005 Sound advise. Thanks for the scoop, I checked out the web site and watched a DVD of the 02 or 03 show, looks like a real cool environment full of good vibes, can't wait. Good Times
Balls 0 #12 March 27, 2005 The Gorge is the BEST venue for concerts. I've been to quite a few concerts there, I may even be at this one. So far what everyone said is right. Security varies, sometimes their cool sometimes not. Definatly worth it.---------------------------------------- ....so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat." Guest #13 March 27, 2005 I'll probably know 30 people at that concert. DMB/Gorge is a great show, ya won't be disappointed. The views are great. It's a ways past Nowhere, WA so get there early in the day to get a good spot to camp. And check out the web site to see whats contraband. You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two.
