tigra 0 #28 March 25, 2005 Just MY experiences as someone who has shared my home with numerous kitties for most of my life.......... I had to give one of my cats a bath because we had a flea problem. He's pretty laid back, but I knew he'd hate it just the same. I actually got in the tub with him, held him with one arm and used the hand held shower head with the other. I managed to do it with only a little bloodshed, too (mine of course!) and that was really only from him trying to hold on to me. There is NO WAY I would have tried it with my other cat who also had fleas at the same time. With him I had to make do with frequent combing, flea powder, and spraying the house. I also had to bathe my mom's cat once because she had some skin irritation and needed a special shampoo. She was an angel about it, and I didn't even need to get in the tub with her! And I had to wash one of mine down when he was sick and had diahrea (sp?), but that wasn't really a bath and the poor little guy was too weak to object. For the most part though, I haven't found it necessary to bathe my cats and the stress it would cause them usually outweighs any benefits. I have heard that if you've got allergy problems, bathing your cat in distilled water can help remove or neutralize the dander, but that might be BS. skycat 0 #29 March 25, 2005 Mem loves showers, I have to ban him from the bathroom or he would jump in with me every morning. I don't have time to dry and comb him so he only gets to join me Saturday mornings.Fly it like you stole it!
kai2k1 0 #30 March 26, 2005 Thats how i give my labs a bath. They've even gotten so smart that when I put on my swim trunks and go the the bathroom they'll run for cover. There's no truer sense of flying than sky diving," Scott Cowan
