I'm certainly glad I won't have to worry about this crap for quite awhile!B| Hopefully the prices will be down by the time I get back!

Yeah, if you and your friends will kick the shit out of the freaking bastards over there, we might see a drop in oil prices... ;) Good luck, and come back safe! :)

That's why I bought this:

(I'm saving literally $150 a month by not driving my truck all the time).

but it don't do you a damn bit of good if you turn around and put $150 worth of radios, sheet metal and assorted crap on your bike every month...

Damn nice bike AggieDave...

I've thought about getting one, but after observing the traffic on my daily work commute back and forth on I-20 between Birmingham and Pell City over the past five years, there's no way in hell I would ride a bike with all the assholes out there! [:/]

I also have a Mazda Protege that gives pretty good mileage, but I think with my driving style, I get about as good mileage out of it as I do the truck...

i did the same last yr.. but i dont save 150$ a month!. I think if you add the cost to insure and then $ from gas saved. It's probably costing me 100$/ yr. still worth it for the easy of parking around chicago streets when i go out :P

Nice Bike! :)
My car gets 25mpg, but I'm seriously thinking about buying a used little EX250 just for riding back and forth to work. (The damn things get about 50-60mpg).

I'd ride the bike I've got now (A Suzuki Marauder 800), but the mileage isn't that good, and after a 30 minute drive my ears ring B|

Boy do I feel old.
Adjusted for inflation, I've seen it higher. Early 80's, adjusted for inflation, it was over $3 current per gallon.
Adjusted for inflation, the jump in the 70's with the gas crisis was a bigger jump, too.
I can remember being selected to go bail someone out of jail because my car had enough gas to get downtown and back on a weekend (many gas stations were closed on the weekend).

Bunch of wusses

My Tundra Truck - $46.00 for 22 gallons at $2.10/gal.

Mazda Protege - $25.00 for 12 gallons at the same price/gal.

I remember my dad paying around $35 a tank for his big ass Dodge RAM full-length van when the price was around $1.00 or so... big ass tank...

The best price I've found in Chicago is $2.16/gal in the burbs.

Average city of Chicago is closer to $2.40 for regular.

what burb it that?.. the furthest i ever go is Evanston and its $2.23. only about 8 cents cheaper than those by me in the city. .08 x 17 = 1.36 extra a gallon. meaning if it takes me more than 10-15 miles to get there it ain't worth going. Now if you include the extra time it would take. It's def not worth going.
