BillyVance 35 #10 March 29, 2005 QuoteThat's why I bought this: (I'm saving literally $150 a month by not driving my truck all the time). Damn nice bike AggieDave... I've thought about getting one, but after observing the traffic on my daily work commute back and forth on I-20 between Birmingham and Pell City over the past five years, there's no way in hell I would ride a bike with all the assholes out there! I also have a Mazda Protege that gives pretty good mileage, but I think with my driving style, I get about as good mileage out of it as I do the truck... My car gets 25mpg, but I'm seriously thinking about buying a used little EX250 just for riding back and forth to work. (The damn things get about 50-60mpg). I'd ride the bike I've got now (A Suzuki Marauder 800), but the mileage isn't that good, and after a 30 minute drive my ears ring
mx757 4 #15 March 29, 2005 Billy, Buy a VW Jetta TDI 5 speed, it'll fit your fast driving style and still get 45 mpg easy.. test drive one at the VW dealer...

wmw999 2,587 #18 March 29, 2005 Boy do I feel old. Adjusted for inflation, I've seen it higher. Early 80's, adjusted for inflation, it was over $3 current per gallon. Adjusted for inflation, the jump in the 70's with the gas crisis was a bigger jump, too. I can remember being selected to go bail someone out of jail because my car had enough gas to get downtown and back on a weekend (many gas stations were closed on the weekend). Bunch of wusses Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. Average city of Chicago is closer to $2.40 for regular. what burb it that?.. the furthest i ever go is Evanston and its $2.23. only about 8 cents cheaper than those by me in the city. .08 x 17 = 1.36 extra a gallon. meaning if it takes me more than 10-15 miles to get there it ain't worth going. Now if you include the extra time it would take. It's def not worth going. Where is my fizzy-lifting drink?
