jumpjunkie2004 0 #1 April 1, 2005 After 20 years of owning an assortment of Saabs, my husband decided it was time to forgo style for environmental awareness. So, he bought a Prius. The gas mileage is phenomenal -averaging 53.8. It's roomy, quiet and relatively comfortable. I'm thinking about getting a second one, but I have one issue with the car that drives me nuts. When you put the car in reverse, it makes the most annoying beeping sound. If you have a Prius, do you know if you can turn that off? If you have a different hybrid, what sort of mileage do you get?Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...

JoeG 0 #3 April 1, 2005 I don't have a hybrid, but my civic gets 45 mpg after doing some headwork on it. It was getting about 25 to 30 mpg. As far as the beeping, its most likely just a reverse buzzer for people around you. I found a site that explains how to easily disable it. http://priuschat.com/forums/kb.php?mode=article&k=7_________________________________________ "Knowledge is Power!" jumpjunkie2004 0 #4 April 1, 2005 Thanks JoeG. I don't think I'm allowed to tamper with my husband's car, but if I decide to get one for myself it's definitely going to be disabled! I have a Honda - an Odyssey. It gets 20 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway. With the continued increase in gas prices, I see down-sizing in my future.Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
