cocheese 0 #3 April 1, 2005 It was weird because Brent was there expecting me to fall in so he grabbed a garden hose to throw me just in case. He went through the ice years ago going to get a hockey puck that got out too far. Same time of year. Shit there were snowmobiles on it Sunday.Ask me someday about the ice dive that went bad. Rope came off me and i was running out of breath and couldn't find the hole. Proof that i'm able to make bad decisions.
CSpenceFLY 1 #4 April 1, 2005 One of my goals is to never live somewhere that you can ride snowmobiles on the ice.
murrays 0 #5 April 1, 2005 Ice.....definitely something you have to have respect for. Here's a picture of the best Cessna 182 I ever jumped out of...shortly after I jumped out of it on its' last load. We were jumping at the Gananoque Winter Festival in February 1988, taking off and landing on the ice of the St. Lawrence River. After landing and while taxiing back to pick up the next load the nose wheel hit a crack in the ice and broke through. The pilot, Norm Meyers, threw open the jump door and told the jumper he had picked up to give a ride back to get out. He got out but his main snagged on the step and started pulling him under the water. He started panicking but then remembered to cutaway and climbed up on top of the wing with Norm. Fuzzy 0 #6 April 1, 2005 Hey Murray - That was just too sad - Preasure cracks and the like can be a bitch eh? When it happened, I was in Yellowknife, another Gan jumper (go figure two of us in Yellowknife at the same time) showed me the newspaper clipping. I saw the picture of just the tail sticking out, and said "bummer". Then he said look at the call letters --------------- We recently took a guy from Tennessee for his first snowmobile rides (may have been first time on a frozen lake too, not sure) - I think he was more impressed by all the Pick-Up trucks & cars being driven on the lake than anything else. At that time there was still around 3 feet of ice, but when it starts to go, it goes fast. Fuzzy Ambition / Ability: Know the difference.
