Guest #1 December 1, 2004 Yo, I watched the first televised episode last night, entitled "33". It came to me via a friend with a phat pipe (nudge-nudge, wink-wink, say-no-more ). It's a few days after the initial attack, and the only remaining humans (less than 50k total) are running for their lives in the face of a massive and relentless wave of Cylon attackers that comes after them every 33 minutes, forcing all the ships to in the ragtag fleet calculate and jump to the next rendezvous point via hyperspace in less two minutes or risk getting left behind for the Cylons. The atmosphere of unbearable tension and fatigue the characters endure is played low-key without a lot of yelling and arm-waving like you'd expect to see on television, which really boosts the drama. The stress some of the characters show as they begin to crack under the strain is reminscent of "Das Boot" (another fine work which I cannot recommend highly enough, btw). There is some terrific acting in this episode. I won't run any spoilers here - you'll just have to watch it. It'll be on Sci-Fi next month, but trust me, it's worth the wait, just like I was hoping it would be when I commented in this forum about the minseries. mh . Guest #3 December 1, 2004 QuoteI'm so glad to hear about this. I thought the pilot mini-series was pretty interesting. Paul, you're gonna love it. It's really good television, as good as anything Chris Carter, JMS or Joss Whedon (excepting that stinker, "Firefly", of course - heh) has ever done. However, don't ask me where I got Episode 1 from mh .
PhreeZone 20 #4 December 1, 2004 They've been promoting the hell out of it on Sci-fi I was SO hoping it was not goingto be a let down. Now if they would just pony up the cash and bring FarScape back life would be GOOOOOD!Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
billvon 3,116 #5 December 1, 2004 >excepting that stinker, "Firefly", of course - heh Firefly has been the DVD series I've been watching on airplanes lately, and it's a hoot. Not too much substance to it, but it's been amusing seeing someone shoehorn a campy western into the sci-fi format. "Hey, flip the, the switch over there, that switch . . ." "What? This one?" "No, that one." "Where?" "Look at where I'm pointing . . . hey! Look at me, now look at my finger, now look where I'm pointing . . . that one."
jjiimmyyt 0 #6 December 1, 2004 It's pretty cool, been watching it on Sky One here in the UK for the last 5/6 weeks. "This isn't an iron lung, people. You can actually disconnect and not die." -Dave
Guest #7 December 1, 2004 "FireFly" reminded me of "Moon Zero Two" so much that I had to laugh. The only thing missing from "Firefly" was a character named "Maurice". mh .

I set my tivo to record BG on SciFi but it keeps recording the old shows which I have already seen enough times._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Zenister 0 #12 December 2, 2004 youve got to be kidding... Battlestar Galactica?? and your slagging Firefly... geez... at least Firefly is obvious about the series and genres it pays homage too... Guest #15 December 2, 2004 Quotehow about Outland? Oh, crap - I forgot about that one.... This (BSG2K4) is a British/Canadian production, so the ugly stamp of Holly-weird is nowhere to be seen, and like I said - it's good television. It isn't King Lear at the Old Vic, but as small-screen stuff goes, it's my personal opinion that this program is pretty close to the top, and it's leagues ahead of anything else right now, like <> "Enterprise". mh . Zenister 0 #19 December 2, 2004 QuoteLooks like the US military is finally deploying some Cylons of its own it is really amazing how well science fiction authors predict the future... of course we can only hope some of the more dire predictions dont occur as well... how long till they are designed to chose targets independently??____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. Guest #20 December 2, 2004 Another remark-- The original BSG was pablum; that is: ---------------------- Main Entry: pab·lum Pronunciation: 'pa-bl&m Function: noun Etymology: from Pablum, a trademark for an infant cereal ---------------------- BSG2K4 is like Thai Curry by comparison! ChasingBlueSky 0 #22 April 2, 2005 Just watched the Season Finale. Wow. What an incredible show and first season. Some of the best story telling I have seen in a long time. I hope they can weave the second season together the same way._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Kris 0 #23 April 2, 2005 Well said. And to think....I thought the Battlestar copy of Boomer was going to throw off her Cylon ways and become one of the good guys. Man, I didn't see that one coming at all! BSG is absolutely some of the best written TV out there. I have a friend who hates sci-fi that has even gotten hooked on it due to the way the characters interact, and the fact that the technology isn't the main star of the show like it is in Star Trek, etc... Damn, now I have to wait for July for the new season to begin.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
blackdog 0 #24 April 2, 2005 i almost dumped a load at that season finale. They really packed a load of get ready for next season all in that last scene on the bridge. F ME! I had not seen any of that coming. can't wait for July!
