AndyMan 7 #1 March 31, 2005 Craichead and I will be down in a few weeks. What's the deal with IHOP? Are there private rooms? Is it a good option for couples? We're also looking at hotels, I know the Days Inn is nearby, any other hotels that people will recomend? Any other options we should check out? _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. Conundrum 1 #2 March 31, 2005 IIRC the IHOP doesn't have seperate rooms. I've stayed at the Days Inn a few times, it's not bad at all. A lot of skydivers stay there.
Brains 2 #3 March 31, 2005 Dammit, i can't remember the name of the place we stayed in during Nationals. I wish i could so i could warn you NOT to stay there. I'll call my teammate, he will know. . . flyangel2 2 #6 March 31, 2005 Yup, the camping out saves me more money to drink, eat, and skydive with. Douva 0 #7 March 31, 2005 QuoteOk, i knew he would know. Best Value In in Sun City. DO NOT STAY THERE. Unless you like sharing a hot water heater with other guests and getting the occasional "somebody just flushed" feeling while in the shower. And that's assuming you have the technical expertise to put your shower back together after the faucet falls apart into the tub.I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. craichead 0 #8 March 31, 2005 I don't mind camping out someplace we're driving to, but I object to lugging camping equipment AND skydiving gear for two people on a flight halfway across the country! _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
Remster 30 #9 March 31, 2005 Yeah... we're the same... if we drive, we'll camp, but flying means motel... I'll look up were we stayed. We tend to look for cheap when skydiving since we spend sooo little time at the hotel. It was decent enough to go back to.Remster
Foggy 0 #10 March 31, 2005 if you have a car and are prepared to drive for about 30 mins, there is a "casino" with motel at Lake Elsinore. Its a little basic but clean and the skydiver rate was around $35 last November. It compares with the Days Inn which is around $70. Foggy
dunesurfer 0 #11 March 31, 2005 The Days Inn is closest and does not completely suck. Be warned the beds are hard, but it is better than sleeping in a tent. Plus, they offer weak coffee and stale bagels as a continental breakfast

Hardly a casino at all.. ... and the restaurant is home to many a creepy people. Not to mention the weirdo's in the hot tub! ahhh Stay at the IHOP... You'll meet lots of other skydivers and it's not a half hour drive...
jose 0 #13 March 31, 2005 Andy, I just spent a week at the IHOP. The rooms are seperated by room A, B, and C. A has 4-5 beds and a bathroom that is attatched. Good for matching # of people, otherwise, no. Room B has 4-5 beds as well, with no bathroom. 2 of the couples in our group took that room and made the double beds into queens by removing the matresses and puttin them on the floor and using the wood frames as a makeshift wall. It worked, but you might still share it with others. Room C is full of bunks, and an attached room that is right at the entrance of room C. I don't reccomend this room for any privacy at all. It worked great for our 15 person group, as we took over damn near the whole house, except for Babylon that was staying there as well. Those guys are cool. PS. If you stay there, I have no idea where the spare tire came from that is under one of the bunks......really, I dont.
LaDonna 0 #14 March 31, 2005 The Lakeview Inn in Lake Elsinore isn't bad and they give a skydiver discount on the room rates. I think it was $59 per night. They have a continental breakfast and plenty of hot water. 951-674-9694 - Lakeview Inn FGF#
gemini 0 #15 March 31, 2005 If there are 4 of you, you could ask the Days Inn for a suite which is a living room with a pull-out sofa bed, tv, phone and refrigerator, a bedroom with two queen beds, a tv and a phone, and in some suites a jacuzzi as well. They are $10 more than the regular double room, but you get a lot more people comfortably in there. The suites are not advertised at most of the smaller hotels. You have to ask for them. Peej 0 #16 April 1, 2005 The IHOP rocks man, I stayed in the big room with all the bunks for a month. You can get boozed after a hard day of jumping and stumble back down the road, no driving, no worries. Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky

A lot of people do it every year going to Lost Prairie! Another option is to UPS the camping gear to yourself c/o the DZ, and then have it shipped back We've done that a couple of times when we've loaded up a rental plane to go somewhere and the camping gear would have put us over weight. Whatever you do, have fun!!! Blue Skies! Harry"Harry, why did you land all the way out there? Nobody else landed out there." "Your statement answered your question." flyclearjohn 0 #22 April 2, 2005 QuoteOk, i knew he would know. Best Value In in Sun City. DO NOT STAY THERE. I stayed there on my last two trips. Didn't have any objections to it. True, it doesn't have a jacuzzi, but they do give skydiver discounts (Days Inn doesn't) plus a refrig and microwave are included in the already cheaper price whereas Days Inn charges an extra $10 for each. It was a nice, clean place for a good price. What problems did you have there? John

It was a nice, clean place for a good price. What problems did you have there? John Did you read my post, John? Our room apparently shared a hot water heater with other rooms. The shower barely worked, and the faucet in the shower actually fell apart at one point and had to be put back together. The maids kept unplugging our fridge each day when they came in to clean and leaving it unplugged. The towels were like old dish rags--You could see through them. I know there were other issues because the constant stream of issues became kind of a running joke throughout the trip. Maybe Brains can remember some of the other problems. I don't require a jacuzzi to be satisfied; I just prefer not to stay in a dump if there are other options.I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names. heidihagen 0 #24 April 4, 2005 ihop has about 4 rooms with several single beds in each. i stayed there in feb and was shocked at first because i thought they would be single rooms... but had a lot of fun with the other people staying there (especially because it wasn't very crowded at all--fun group!). i would probably stay there again even though the front door sticks and the bathroom could use help. it's close and the wind tunnel is your alarm clock in the morningi didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
