regulator 0 #1 February 23, 2009 I am doing the final touches on the order form for my 1st new rig. I was curious regarding what is more comfortable on the backpad...cordura, or mesh. Any opinions as to which would be better?
likestojump 3 #2 February 23, 2009 if by mesh you mean 3D spacer foam - I would get that as a personal preference.
councilman24 37 #3 February 23, 2009 I always liked para pack. Slide on easier. I don't have experience with spacer foam but not I like it. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

I think what Terry was TRYING to say, is that parapak will slide more easily on your back than cordura. This is a personal preference, some people like the rig to stay more planted while other prefer it to glide a little easier, while moving around. The mesh will have similar properties to the cordura, but from the reports we have gotten, the mesh seems to breathe better for those jumpers in warmer climates. I've also had reports of people appreciating the small hole mesh over spacer foam, in that it doesnt seem to pick up debris as easily if you pack outside. I've attached a picture of the mesh along side the spacer foam. To answer your question, I've got a rig in construction right now, my last rig was cordura and the new rig will be mesh.-Tony (253) 445-8790 Velocity Sports Equipment
councilman24 37 #5 February 23, 2009 Yep, lots of bad nights. I'm now diagnosed with positional severe sleep apnea and have a brand new CPAP nose thingy that I'm getting used to. Try to sleep with some one giving you mouth to nose CPR all night. What he said. Parapak. and I ment slide on easier. For over the head doning. Also the back thing but too lazy to try to write it. Hell, the newbies don't know what either parapak or para pack is. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

riggerrob 643 #8 February 24, 2009 What he said. Parapak. and I meant slide on easier. For over the head donning.................................................................... The opposite end of the scale would be the sticky, rubberized back pads preferred by a handful of competitive stylists. Sticky back pads prevent rigs from sliding around. lowhook 0 #9 February 24, 2009 I find the spacer foam so comfortable that I had a second rig refitted with it at considerable expense. Go and find one of the top-of-the-line Swiss Army backpacks and check out how soft they are. That is similar in feel to the Javelin backpad with spacer foam. skydiverek 63 #10 February 25, 2009 What Mirage does right now is a Spacerfoam on top of foam backap. Double the comfort!
