josheezammit 0 #1 April 5, 2005 SO yesterday was my day off, and i got my new license and my new parachutist at the same time, and since the tv could not hold my attention and I have seen all the dvd's I own like a bizillion times, I read the WHOLE DAMN ISSUE. from the fatality report, to all the names of the rising fallers, and even mr. glenn bangs note as our pres of the USPA. I loved that note and what it had to say about his peer mentality towards other skydivers, and the way that we should treat each other. I quickly remembered my AFF last year as he was teaching the new instructors at skydive san marcos, and the brief contact I had with him. I had one of the worst STUDENT landings ever and he kindly walked over to me and said really slowly "flare" and then i said sorry for f-ing stuff up and he said (as he bends over and looks at me knees) "its not my forgiveness you need, but their's" points at both knees. he laughed a second with me and that was it. But he took the time to do it. Today the memory of that moment of encouragement and the many others that i have had keep me going, even when I am tired and dirty and just got off work and am a wee bit mean on the weekends, I still will go jump, cause i love it. I look foward to this season and encouraging new students, and old friends, and realizing that although I must leave the teaching to the coaches and instructors, I need no rating to be a mentor! Ahh, what a wonderful world.

Aww, have fun with it. I've already decided my role at the DZ with respect to students is to be the example for the ones who are struggling.
