mnealtx 0 #1 April 5, 2005 Finally got my itinerary... looks like a 2.5 hour layover in Newark, New Joisey. Flying through the afternoon of 9 June. I vaguely remember flying through Newark several years back, but don't remember anything to do besides having a beer at the airport bar - anyone want to meet for a beer?Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. mx757 4 #2 April 5, 2005 unless they have airline ID.. or fellow passengers.. how are they going to get into the "securce" side to have a beer with you??
mnealtx 0 #3 April 5, 2005 I'll be outside the 'red zone', since I'm going to have to go outside to have a cigarette... didn't think to put that n the OP....thanks for the reminder!Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
wingnut 0 #4 April 5, 2005 dude, i just flew through newark, it sux big time, longest wait i've ever had in a security line so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to get back to your gate.... and how they have every thing so spread out sort of sucks, like one security point for like 6 gates and then another point for another 6 gates, but only each set of 6 gates is conected to eachother so you have to leave "security area" to go anywhere but the next gate over.... i will do anything in my power from now on to not fly throughthere.... would much rather stop over at jfk!!!! ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
mnealtx 0 #5 April 5, 2005 That blows... I wonder if I can get the company to change my flight so I don't have to connect through there? *edit/update*... Nope, they already booked the tickets... damn! Ok, I'm gonna be stuck at the Newark airport for a couple hours.... Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. freeflir29 0 #6 April 5, 2005 All that depends on what airline you are passing through on. If you are on Continental you'll be in their nice new C terminal. It's really nice and their are lots of decent places to eat. Especially around the 130's gates. Just stay out of Ghallager's (SP?) Supposed to be some famous NYC steak house but it's stupid expensive and I thought the food sucked! If you are on just about any other airline you'll be in the older A/B terminals. Not as nice........and all the good food is OUTSIDE security.
mnealtx 0 #7 April 5, 2005 Yep, it'll be Continental... I'm gonna have to get out of the secured zone to grab a smoke anyway, so figured if someone in the area wanted to grab a beer at one of the airport bars, I'd treat...Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. freeflir29 0 #8 April 5, 2005 Go out at the exit by the 70's gates. When you go out just keep left and there are some glass doors. Hard to open but that's my favorite spot to sit and smoke. Especially if it's a nice day out. You can watch the ramp and check out all the Continental flight attendents.
mnealtx 0 #9 April 5, 2005 Cool - thanks for the tip!Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
antifnsocial 0 #10 April 5, 2005 You should have changed it to Philadelphia. Sure it's a shitty airport but I would have come and given you an Ella hug!!!! Please feel free to reply to my posts and pm's, but only if you're smart enough to understand what they really mean.
freeflir29 0 #11 April 5, 2005 Oh and one more tip to pass the time. If you find yourself really bored. Go out that same exit but then go up the stairs or escalator to the ticketing level. Go all the way down to your left and there is an escaltor. Just have a seat over by the door in the corner. If it's late afternoon or even better dark out.......you can watch the rats when they come out and play. Sorry........During my tenure as an Air Marshal that airport was like a second home to me. I shudder to think all the hours I have wasted standing around there.
mnealtx 0 #12 April 5, 2005 I'll remember that for the next trip! Unfortunately, they'd already booked the tickets... Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
antifnsocial 0 #13 April 5, 2005 See!! You're also someone who should have been rerouted to Phila. airport and called Ella for a hug. Please feel free to reply to my posts and pm's, but only if you're smart enough to understand what they really mean.

mnealtx 0 #17 April 5, 2005 Yeah, there *IS* that... might put a bit of a damper on the vacation, huh? It *IS* fun, though.... used to do it at the stable all the time.... too many for the barn cats to keep up with and smart enough not to take bait...Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim.
